How come I was watching Daily Show With John Stewart at the end he said "GOD DAMN IT!" and they blanked out the word god but not damn?

One word defiles the creator and judge of the universe, who decides that fate of a man's soul, who knows all, sees all, and is all that there is, the other just a crude word. Which one do you think carries more weight.?

Maybe it has something to do with that commandment that says something about not taking the Lord your Gods name in vain. Could be wrong.

Damnit is ok to say on TV, but when it's put together with God it's considered blasphemy and highly offensive to many people.

I believe "Goddamn" is one word. So the show is not necessarily editing the word "God" only.
