We heard him speak about church planting and thought he was great. Then I have read and heard that some Southern Baptist conservatives don't like his teaching. What does he say that is so controversial?

I think he is a New Yorker and FUNNY! Maybe since he's Southern Baptist, the New Yorker part is tough for people to handle. I don't know a lot about him but I've read some of his articles on Christian websites. He talks a lot about starting new churches and church and culture. I've not ever read anything too crazy.

Ed Stetzer is a pastor and teacher, mostly on planting churches. I'm not sure about controversy surrounding him, but if I had a guess this would be it: he's too strongly orthodox on certain issues for more left leaning groups (homosexuality, women as pastors, etc.), and he's a bit too friendly with popular culture for right leaning groups (does market research, some people might call that pragmatic, the way he speaks isn't "churchy", etc.). Hope that helps!

Hmmm - I googled his name like this: "Ed Stetzer" and received many sites that mentioned him. I don't know what he says that is so controversial, but if you google him, you'll find a lot to read.
