Well gee. Is your father an alcoholic? Is your grandpa an alcoholic? What about your mom? Your grandma? Answer these questions and you will know your answer. Then, decide if you should be drinking or not.

Sometimes alcoholism runs in families - so there may be a genetic predisposition to it. Unfortunately it hasn't skipped any generations in MY family....drat.

Yes, alcoholism is a disease carried through genetics far past first or second generations. The only cure is treatment and you can still pass it on through your lineage.

I believe...its all in your head. The need for booze is mental, not a physical urge.Even if it doesnt skip a generation and your "doomed" like the one before you,it doesnt mean your automaticially going to drink like an idiot and ruin your life. You can drink and NOT be an alcoholic.
Or,you can choose to not drink at all.Just because someone in your near-family drank alot,it doesnt mean your going to.You choose what you want to do.Alcohol isnt in your blood. Its all in your head...

No, does this mean that all children of alcoholics will become alcoholics, not if they learned the lesson in front of their eyes their whole childhood.
