Common sense...
If you really want to succeed forget the parties for the first semester and hit the books... After the first semester indulge in parties sparingly and relax a *little* on the books... wish someone had told me this before my first year at college, then maybe I wouldn't have dropped out (due to poor grades and feeling overwhelmed)...
I bet 50% of college drop outs drop because of their lack of common sense...

Trust me...I have a B.A. and an M.S. I've spent lots and lots of years in college. You absolutely must bring the following:
1. Whipped White Cream (Low Fat)
2. Edible Condoms
3. Video Camera
4. Lots of Tapes
5. A positive attitude
(God...I sure miss college) :)

You can buy anything you've forgotten. But, since you are probably worried about what is ahead, why not spend a few minutes to write a letter about your feelings. Then stick the letter in an envelope, stamp and address it to yourself at your new address. Then ask a favorite (dependable) person to mail it to you in three or four months. You'll forget all about it with all the things you're going to be doing (and hopefully, all the people you meet), and you'll find comfort in how much you've changed since leaving home!

Take a prepaid calling card as a back up. On occasion, you might find yourself in a situation where you do not have access to a cell phone or cannot get a call through. Having a way to call long distance from a land phone might be important in an emergency.

Do not leave without a can opener, a microwave and a jug of laundry soap. That's what I forgot.
