dogs understand the signs of physical aggression, and the great majority of them will protect their masters from attack. Even a small dog can be surprizingly effective with its speed, agility, loud voice, and teeth. Usually they won't understand more subtle forms of harm such as theft or dishonesty. I did have one dog, though, that was so upset by discord that he would just leave the room. Some dogs will also protect property (territory), but not with the same passion they have for their people.

Yes, a dog will do his/her best to protect the Master because a dog is totally loyal and protective and will even fight to the death to protect. The relationship between a dog and his master can be used as a model for humans to follow as we should be loyal, and obedient to God and show him Agape love just as he does to us. Peace to the world!!!

Some dogs do, some do not. Some are more protective than others. (Some people deserve it, and some don't, too.)
If my husband and I "play-fight", all four of my dogs get upset and bark at us until we stop and reassure them that we are okay. I've even seen one of my dogs growl at my hubby for it, and it's the one and only time in his entire 6 1/2 years that I've ever seen him growl at any one, for any reason... ever.
It makes me feel a bit safer knowing that they'd come to my rescue if I ever really needed them.

My dogs are my protectors. They sense trouble . When some man broke into my house the dogs knew it before I did, they came in and ran into my room and started to bark and when they heard the intruder one stayed with me and the other took off towards the sound and ripped the intruder a new a***. Then other dog went to help. I have two Pit Bulls. I love them to death.

Most breeds in general will defend their masters. If in a real loving caring home most dogs would die for their masters. I know ours would. My husband had a Dane that went through a window and gutted herself trying to catch an intruder and died because of it. I know my Danes will stand between me and anyone they feel would try and hurt me and heaven help anyone that would try to hurt the children, so yes they will on average.

even the most docile of dogs and breeds will go after someone to protect. i had a westhighland terrior of 20 years that recently passed. he was loved by everyone and only 8 pounds. i could get him to get fisty once in awhile otherwise he was laid back. my ex-girlfriend was arguing with me as i found out she was stealling money from me to buy crack. i told her no more and she got mad wanting money to go out and do as she wanted and slapped me after i said we were through. my buddy jumped off the bed and bit her on the ankle. as he was small, it just left a bruise and small teeth marks. the next day after my ex came come from a night out. she didn't remember a thing and could figure how she got a bruise on her ankle with small marks. he knew her for six years but i had in all my life and he stuck up for me. his name was toto as he looked like him, but i nicknamed him anklebite as thats how tall he was and is the only area he could bite.

My dog sure will. Although he is trained to react on my reaction which makes it no problem for socialization. I am sure that my dog would give his life for me if he was ever placed in that situation.
