okay .. so i'm still a virgin & my friend said that when she lost her virginity she bleed * does this always happen your 1st time?

Losing one's virginity usually means rupturing a thin membrane called the hymen, so yes, normally a little bleeding is involved. I bled myself a little, but it isn't dangerous....just perhaps a bit embarassing. Not all women bleed heavily enough to notice though.

Not always. Many times women who are active in sports tear their hymen long before they have sex. That is what bleeds and hurts - tearing your hymen. Some women, especially tall women, never even have a hymen.
Most of the time for the average jo there is bleeding.

GREAT answer byrdie!! I don't think it always happens, I have heard you can *bleed* just by riding a horse or something. It depends on the individual.

I'm not sure that it happens to everyone, but it's normal if it does. It shouldn't be alot of bleeding.

It is different for every girl. I didn't bleed but it will be uncomfortable for you the first time.

it might not happen if you use tampons...the bleeding happens because the membrane called the hymen broke. its not uncommon for this to break with tampon use. but you can use tampons & not have it break.
