If you have already gone through the schooling, shame on your program for not assisting you with application for licensure. After you successfully complete LPN school, you must file papers in the state you want to practice as an LPN. You can get on the State Board of Nursing website (for example, if you want to get a license in Iowa, you would go to a search engine and type in "Iowa State Board of Nursing"). Once there, you can download the right forms to fill out to apply for licensure by examination for LPN. Once you fill out the papers and your school sends in proof of your graduation, you will get an Authorization to Test (ATT) form. Once you have this, you can schedule your NCLEX-PN with the Pearson Testing Centers. It's a whole long drawn out process, but it's worth it in the end!!
