And finally, toys. Toys are a vital part of a parakeet痴 life. When no one is around to chatter to, parakeets need something to do. There are a lot of different types of toys made for parakeets. A 杜ust-have・ for every parakeet is a bell. At least one toy should have a bell擁f not every toy! Bells are wonderful because they are shiny and pretty, and if moved in just the right way, they make noise. Some parakeets make waves in the fashion world by trying to wear a bell on the top of their head.
Parakeets love bright colors. The more lively the colors, the more interesting the toy. Little wood blocks, pony beads, and leather straps are all excellent media for parakeet toys. Hang them near perches for ease of playing, or hang them out in the middle of the cage to encourage exercise.

and so YES! Parkeets are smart and they can talk and do tricks! I love them =D

Yes Parakeets are very smart and are up there in the top 20 smartest birds, according to BIRDTALK magazine.
Yes They can talk, but a single kept parakeet is way more likely to talk, but not all birds will talk, but the ones that do talk, talk well.
Yes They can learn tricks, but single kept parakeets are more likely to learn, and only if you have the time and patience to teach them the trick you want to teach them.

Parakeets are quite smart. They can learn to talk and do tricks, but this is easier if you have only one. If you have more, they pay more attention to each other than to you. If you don't spend an hour a day with your parakeet, you should get it a companion, because they are very social.

Of course they are smart!! I love parakeets!
They can do some tricks, and some talk. Males are easier to train and more likely to talk than females, so if you are looking for a bird to perform, try getting a male. You will know the sex by the nose color- blue for boy, brown for girl.

In my 30 years of breeding parakeets, I have never encountered one which talks, even after diligent training. Believe me, its more than a myth to say that we can train them to talk. However, they can be very smart and ask to do some tricks. However, they perform tricks only if food is given as a reward.

They have the intellect of a 3 year old. If it is had fed from hatching, you can work with it and teach it to do tricks. If it is not had fed, I'd say its nearly impossible. Be prepared to get bitten if it is not hand fed, and don't punish it for biting. Birds can crack shells with their beaks, so imagine what it can do if it gets angry. You'll only hurt your little bird. Senegal parrots are among the most trainable, as are African greys, but they are expensive, and not what I'd consider a "beginner's bird".

yes they are very smart..you can teach them to talk and do tricks also.
but you need to train one at a time because they talk to each other in "bird language"..so u would need a separate area and it takes consistency and hours..
