Were you ever a person of faith? And if so, was there something particular that was a turning point? Or has religion never had any appeal? Have you ever wondered about life after death when someone you love dies? I'm asking with all due respect, and absolutely no implication of judgement...

I was never a person of faith. I have always felt like there was no God in my life.

My parents both had me attend their houses of faith and I never "felt" God or Christ. I always questioned the lessons being taught. When I was older, my parents allowed me to visit other houses of faith. I made my definitive conclusion to be atheist when I was 13 and understood what that would mean to me and in my life. I told my father my conclusion when I was 15.

My thoughts about life and death are simple. My mind is gone. My body will go and nourish the world. I don't really question afterlife or have a desire to be in one. I am content knowing that my body will once again be recycled into the world. When someone I love dies, I respect their faith. My mother was a catholic her whole life. When she died, I respected the fact that she repented for her sins and would go to her heaven. As she is in her heaven, she will be able to be with me for eternity. As I do not believe in an afterlife, my life just ends.

Thank you for the respect when asking your question.

who are you calling an Atheist .is it those who do not believe in your idea of a god ,or those who believe in false gods ,or something which is not a god at all

there are those who are taught not to think ,who accept lies and believe this to be the truth, this is called being in a state of habit ,and it is the world of organised religion.
these people are brainwashed and will probably be that way until their deaths ,

then there are those who exist in a state of novelty ,who question and who are encouraged to think, they fall outside the control of the programmings ,and so are not slaves under a global mind control

they know the real alternative truths .
every body who has left the middle ages knows by now that 300.000 years ago an Anunaki created the Adams race to mine gold for him .he was known as the creator , he was a refugee from mars ,before it was knocked out of Orbit,

But he was not a God ,
those who believe him to be a God are the real Atheists ,

the story of Adam was the symbolic story of this Slave race ,creation.

the Anunakis descendants (illuminati),to this day control the Adams race descendants ,with various religions ,

the divisions ,racial ,cultural, political and different religions, were created to keep the people apart so that they could be controlled easier (the ancient strategy of divide and conquer,)

their manipulations are through the religion´s writings ,which include keys to make the believers accesseble to an ongoing mind control
as well as programmings to disbelieve the truth ,should it ever come their way.

www.infowars .bloodlines of the illuminati
mind control and child abuse
the biggest secret

if you are looking for real Gods instead of imaginary ones ,you dont have to look far

the planet ,Mother Earth ,from which all of life comes ,and all of lifes needs and much more .is your home and has its own intelligence ,the American Natives called this Manitoe.we call it Gaia.
and the Sun with out whose life giving rays, nothing would exists(sun spot activity have proved to be directly related to mayor human events )

and even Christianity is based on most of these
the story of jesus ,the father and the holy spirit
being the repeated story of Horus and Osiris.
but 6000 yars later with different names
was in fact a symbolic representation of the life cicle of the sun ,
its dying ,death and rebirth ,and all being the same thing ,THE SUN

these are two powerfull Godlike entities that affect humanity directly ´plainly visible all the time.

as is the moon,
all of the liquids on this planet ,.tides ,river currents even our blood is subject to the moons power
and other Cosmic bodies also have their subtle influences.

My family is Protestant (legally Protestant, I should say. I think our beliefs are diminishing), and I was raised that way without much enforcement. My school was stupid and made it mandatory for students of X grade(s) (I don't exactly remember; this was at least 4 years ago, probably closer to 6) to attend a religious class, the only ones being Catholic and Protestant. I took the Protestant class up until 4th grade; in 5th grade they removed the religious program (but I wouldn't have attended anyways).

At that point, I started inwardly questioning faith. After a while, I decided that theism was a sham, and that - even were it real - I didn't want to depend on a god. I wanted to be myself, without having someone upstairs was pulling the strings on my life.

In answer to the rest of your questions:
Religion never really appealed to me, it was there. When we die, our bodies rot, but I believe that our souls lie in wait to be reborn in another body. And no, I'm not offending by your asking, nor would I accuse you of being judgemental.

I am 52 years old. I was born and raised a Lutheran. Just today I sold my soul and became an atheist. I have been following this Q&A for about a month and finally realized that all the atheist on this forum where right. They showed me the light. They opened my heart and made me realize my whole life was a big sham. I am so greatful to Mark with no eye lashes, atheist candy, atheism dude, atheist hero, captain atheism, bettierage and all the rest. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for directing me to the real truth,

Religion is clearly manipulations of some possible true events. Man always looks for answers to the unknown and have a great desire to follow and be led if they dont obtain the knowledge to lead themselves. Thus came religion and then the abuse of religion to control the masses. After studying many different religions and philosophies I came to the conclusion that my previous words are what I believe and have learned to believe in my higher power which comes from within.
As for re-incarnation..hmmm i do have doubts but since no one ever came back from the dead to prove then I guess i will have to wait to find out.
I feel deeply that if religion were non existent we would not have all these rituals, wars, and corruption we have today and this world would be a much better place.
There is so much more to this if you would like to talk more about it please feel free to email me

As far as I know, I have always been an atheist. I went to church with my family and enjoyed the socializing, but have never believed in anything supernatural. I tried to, trust me, it was not fun feeling like the only one who just "didn't get it" or the way I see it, "refused to be intellectualy dishonest with myself". I can understand wanting to believe, but nothing I have seen or read has pointed to any god.
Most of my family and friends are christians, so I do not dislike them. I love them. But I'll never understand why they cling to such ancient beliefs. Actually, I do understand, they won't read or believe anything that contradicts their current view.
I've had many family members die, and understand that I will die too someday. I really get to live life as though this were all I have. I am quite content knowing that this is as good as it gets.

I grew up (and still am) not ever going to church or even seeing a bible so I wasn't really an atheist but I didn't deny the existence of a god. But around a year or so I started to form my own views on things and know I'm an atheist.

born and raised as atheist, tried religion but kept falling asleep in the church, now back to my godless self.

oh, and not to pass a judgement, but I'd hate to spend an eternity in the same place as righteous christians
