I don't know how to tell her!?

I have this internet friend. I want to meet him, but only when im 18. Should i tell my mom about him now?
I've known him for a long time. I've been out of touch, but just recently we started talking again. He doesn't have a fiance anymore, but he revealed to me he really likes me. My mom is overprotective of me. She thinks im gonna go running off to an internet pedifile, but he isn't one. And i want to meet him, but Im not going to until im 18. I always tell my mom everything about my life...and finally i don't want to tell her about this particular thing. im 15 and he's 21. Yeah...i know the age is weird...but if you think about it when im 18 he'll be 24. The older you get, the more it's reasonable. I mean i know someone whos parents are 12 years apart..and it worked out for them. 6 years isn't all that bad if you think about it. I live in florida and he lives in washington state. I wanna tell my mom, but I don't know how, or how she'll react. What should i do?

Definitely tell your Mom. It's always best to be honest about these things and she will feel better knowing that you know enough to wait to meet him until you're 18.

Tell her everything you know about him and for goodness sakes, no matter how old a woman is (I've done a lot of internet dating) never, ever, ever meet someone you don't know alone. Meet in a very public place and have an escape plan. Make sure a friend knows where you are going to be. Bring a cell phone with you. DO NOT give out any personal contact information until you get to know the person well, IN PERSON. My boyfriend of 3.5 years didn't get my ph# or last name until we'd been dating for well over a month. He could e-mail me or I would call him.
