Uh...well, yeah. Genetics gives a blueprint that is further influenced by environment.
I think there are some cases where people are influenced toward homosexuality by their environment, but the vast majority are born that way. Like inborn intelligence, it hurts nothing, and so there is no reason to "treat" it... unlike mental problems.
As far as violence and addiction... People are born with a predisposition to a certain level of mental health. Depression, bipolar disorder, suicide, and other mental health problems tend to be more prevalent in family members. However, environment can make a person born completely normal into an insane person. Environment can also make it much more likely that a person born with a tendency for depression will be perfectly fine.

no, i do not believe this at all... i believe that homosexuals and gays make up their own minds and decisions....and they choose wrong... i do believe if a child is brought up around violence that they learn to be violent...i think a lot that happens when we are children has a lot to do the way we are when we are grown...and some people do the exact opposite of the way they lived as a child because they know that it was not a good life... i know my sons and i lived with a very abusive , mean , husband and dad... some have real tempers... but they never were allowed christmas trees and the happy memories a child should have.... and thank god they are letting their children have christmas trees and happy memories for their children....i think if a person wants to do something bad enough they can give it their best shot and some make it well...so i think that we all have decisons to make in life and we get on the wrong road sometimes....and it says in the bible that homosexuals and gays are a abomination unto the lord....that is definitely wrong....and a great sin....

I am a Christian now.I was not always a Christian.I love women .I love being with women and making love to women. This made me a fornicator.Fornication is no more or no less a sin than homosexuality. When I ,as a fornicator stopped fornicating I became a child of God.If a homosexual stops homosexual acts and dedicate their life to Jah,they to become children of Jah.
Please read Colossians 3:4-11.
Hate the sin not the sinner.Homosexuality, sex with ones own gender,is a sin,not homosexuals.
Please remember 1John 4:8.

I think homosexuality has to be something people are born with. No one in their right mind would choose to be gay in a society that pretty much hates them. Attempts at making homosexuals become heterosexuals throug theraphy have been very unsuccessful...so that, to me, seems to mean that there aren't any social factors as a cause, at least in most cases. Since things like violence and addiction can be effectivly controlled with proper treatment, some may have a predispositiong but not something which will positivly determine future actions. We still have a lot to learn about the how the human mind works.

Yes, I believe so. We use genetics and DNA to prove so many other things, why wouldn't it impact our sexuality as well.
Of course, there are clearly the other kind as well, people who make a choice to participate in that lifestyle, but could just as easily be heterosexual. A famous actress comes to mind who hung out with Ellen for a period of time during her sexual confusion. The Ellen of this example is clearly the other kind of homosexual that we are talking about in this question. She would appear to me to have been born that way.

absolutely is all in your DNA things can be passed down that a few years ago no one thought was possible. I mean take a serial killer for instance when they are children they abuse and kill animals it is just how they are there is something in there brain that isn't working right they enjoy it and get a high off of it why no one really knows they were just born that way. and not every child who abuses animals turns out to be a serial killer but i would bet that later on in life they would commit a violent crime against another person

I definitely feel that genetics play a part in people's tendencies towards homosexuality, addiction, violence etc. However, I feel that having sex with an animal is nothing like having sex with a human - animals cannot talk, and cannot therefore consent to sex. So basically you are raping an animal if you have sex with it.

they are proving more and more genetics is a factor in a lot of this type of stuff. they are also pursuing some findings that mothers' bodies produce antibodies toward male offspring, so 2nd or 3rd sons after giving birth to a first son, has more of a predisposition toward being gay...they think because of sort of an allergic reaction to the male fetus. i'm not making this up, it was in time magazine.

I think genes may sometimes account for certain factors. If your parents are alcoholics, the chances of you being one is higher than if your parents never drank.
Most of what our behavior is, however, is environment. Children in an abusive household are more likely to imitate the violent behavior.
As for homosexuals, I believe that some are born with that predisposition. Others willingly choose their lifestyle because they believe it suits them best.

i agree with you a 100%. They're shouldnt be same sex couples or marriages. God did not create Adam and Eve that way. I mean, you dont even see animals or insects doing it either. Seems like they have more common sense and decency than humans.
