I don't think you should pierce your dog's ear. It's not as easy to keep it hygenic.

DO NOT pierce your dog's ear. You might think it looks nice, but it has absolutely no value to the dog, and even after it has slightly healed and you remove the cone (which is also unkind and should only be used if recommended by a vet or if it actually has a head injury) it may still scratch at it or rip it out. Other animals may pull on it too, or it could get caught on things.
Dogs do not deserve to be put through that, just because you might think it looks pretty. It is inhumane and completely useless. ALSO if for some reason you still feel you have to do it, don't do it yourself. You could cause so many different types of injury (the dog could even lash out at you in pain), not to mention that household items are not sharp enough or clean enough to use for piercing (on humans OR animals).

Piercing your dog's ear is abuse. What would make you think it was alright to do something like that to your dog?
Not only could you hit a vien and cause the dog to bleed excessively, you will be causing the dog alot of pain and discomfort; it will more than likely become infected and I am positive that you can cause permanent damage.

hope that you are not serious. listen to me very carefully, because i get the feeling that you dont have all of your marbles. first there are so many tiny veins in your dog's ear that you could hit and your dog will bleed to death. second if you pierce your dogs ear it will not understand the feel of the foreign object and do anything to relieve itself of it. with excess scratching and pawing at it which will promote infection.

WHY IN HELL WOULD YOU DO THAT TO YOUR DOG?
ARE YOU LIKE ABOUT 8 YRS OLD? Do you cut off your cats whiskers whenever you feel like playing dolls? Trim your dogs eyelashes? LET IT BE A DOG. Dress YOURSELF up. It really irks me when people wanna 'play house' with an animal. Let it be what it does best, just a pet and the love of your life! Paint it's toenails or something.

Why in the world would you want to pierce your dog's ear? Kind of mean and I imagine it would be prone to infection. Plus they scratch their ears and would probably eventually rip it out, causing even more problems. Please rethink this idea.

there are A LOT of veins , large ones in the ear of the dog. they can bleed to death from a puncture in the wrong place.

do not pierce your dog's ear. i think that is absolutely stupid and considered animal abuse. have you had your ears pierced? if you did, you know it hurts. besides i think your dog will look pretty dumb with a piercing.
