I used to think that the only reason I existed was to chap God's a$$. One night at the lowest point in my life, I asked for help. I got it IMMEDIATELY. Looking back of 40 something years now, I can remember at least six times I asked for God's help. And GOT it. I just didn't him the credit because I was so happy that I got what I asked for, (and believe me, these were things that could only come about because of divine intervention) I forgot to thank him. I still ask. Sometimes my request is answered in a positive but strange way. You know, "be careful what you wish for, you just might get it". I've learned that If you ask for God's help, it does help to be specific. But to answer your question, yes, many times. Oh, and just to clarify, I PRAY, not wish.

I was an Atheist briefly in High school when I was really searching for the truth. I tried out a lot of things and read a lot of psychology books, and occult books, I later decided there must be a God and tried to formulate my own religion.
None of this satisfied me. Psychology could diagnose you till the end of time but not help you. Other religions and cults lacked the power to change my life and bring satisfying happiness.
I found out about the Baptism of the Holy Spirit from some friends. This experience gave me better peace than Transcendental Meditation, and the ability to change my life. I have lived this Cristian life for 30 years now and wouldn't trade it for anything. And I am more in love with Jesus than ever before!

I won't call myself an atheist but sometimes i just doubt the existance of god. All around me people brag about god's goodwill, how he looks after everyone but that dosent convince me.
Howcome if there is a god our planet is going haywire, why does he not do anything when innocent people are raped, murdered, where does he go when young children are forced to work as domestic labourers, when kids are forced into prostitution, how come he dosent stop these terrorist activities which claim so many lives?
If he is there why is so much injustice happening in our world?

Definitely!! As a matter of fact, I once was so egotistical that I was sure I was my own God, and I could make anything happen better than this "God" could. Then, one day, a couple of decades ago, my world fell apart so bad that I was balling like a baby and calling Jesus Christ to help me and have mercy on me, and begged His forgiveness and mercy. And even though He didn't remove the pain, and still today did not reverse what hurt me so bad back then, He's brought me to know and appreciate and love Him more, and even though I know, first hand, that I'm still a sinful man, I do know Jesus our Christ, and I'll NEVER let Him out of my sight again!!! Or so I presently intend such. I've sinned before, and I could mess up big again, like Peter denying Christ three times. I just pray I don't, and your question, which gave me this chance to answer and renew my closeness with Jesus presently, keeps me closer to Him, and I thank you for your question. God, as in Jesus our Christ, Bless you always.

I think to some extent this has happened to just about every Christian. Some of us were taught to be atheists by our parents, and then we became Christians. Other of us grew up going to church, but at some point we had to find out what we really believe. Saying that I am a Christian because that's how I was raised, didn't cut it. I got to a point in my life where God had to show me who He is and I had to make a choice. He's always faithful to those who sincerely seek Him.

The Bible says, Draw nigh unto God and He will draw nigh unto you.
Now I don't know if you are telling the truth though... maybe you are. But in my life, once I started seeking God, He would let me know He was there more and more. I am 100% convinced there is a God, and He is the God of the Holy Bible.
Once I established a relationship with Him, then He started directly answering prayer, he is Awesome.

Could you e-mail me why you were an atheist before...I'd just be curious to know. Very few atheists turned theists can actually explain why they were an atheist in a clear manner. I've only met a couple...so maybe they were just not very good with words.

"I was an atheist, asked God to help me..."
I hate when people lie, actual "good Christians" are not manipulators.
Anyone who was actually a real atheist would never "ask god" anything, if they do they were still a believer to some degree.

I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).
For scientific and intellectual evidence for the existence of God, see http://www.godsci.org/gs/godsci/evidence.htm
Cordially,
John
