Spunky, Do I understand that you are a Christian from your question. If so, as a Christian just because SOME Muslims are extremist does it justify doing to them what people do to Christians? Does it justify hating people and discriminating them. Should they just accept being discriminated.
How do you feel that Jesus would handle this situation? Would he say to hate that person because they are a different religion, or would he love them and hope to win them over?
Discrimination against any race, based on the poor decisions of some of their group is always wrong. Whether they understand it or not, it doesn't make it right.
Walk in Love to everyone, my sister in Christ.

PEOPLE GET RELIGION AND CULTURE MIXED UP!!!
look where these terrorists came from? It has nothing to do with them been muslim. If they say it is, do you think god would want all this killing of innocent people? no he wouldnt.. Just like Allah wouldnt.. You have a select few that believe they are doing what Allah wants. There are christians that have gone on murderous rampages all because they think god told them too or its what god wants, but really its just that they have a stuffed up sense of reality! Dont persecute all muslims because of something a small group has done! Just like that small group of terrorists should not have persecuted all those ppl during 911 all because they were american! Its not right!

People who feel threatened by someone just because they are Muslim have serious issues. I don't understand why they are discriminated against, why should they have to understand. It's not like the entire Muslim religion supported 9/11, most are deeply upset that extremist members of their religion could do such a thing.

The media has conditioned Americans to listen to their (the media's) twisted version of truth.
For instance: How many of you have watched the "news" in the U.S. as it includes those lame and mundane funny "animal news stories"? Or fires in California(yawn), or mudslides in California(yawn, both happen so often as to not be what I would call high priority news).
Whenever you see these, try this, find out which of your local/cable channels has the BBC news. As it's stories are not directed by the corporate dictated propaganda as encountered in the U.S. You will see the range of stories that encompass the earth. Not the myopic/tunnel-vision crap the U.S. media calls news. Actual relevant news regarding serious happenings around the globe.
Try it. You will be flabbergasted that the 'news can be, well, 'newsy'.

Americans(in General) discriminates all non Americans or even black Americans..specially Muslims, Asians like Filipinos, Thais, Malaysians..etc..
They think that they are a higher human specie..
Take this as an example:
When our senator(a Christian) visited USA, he had to take off his shoes, socks and should follow all strict security measures..because as the officials says..its their law and all foreighner should abide by it..
However, when one US senator visited the Philippines. he did not go through all of this.and refused to be inspected, or go to through normal process.. They insisted that he is a senator of the US and should be given a VIP treatment.
Now, tell US, if you Americans are only discriminating againts Muslim?

Yes, in the words of Carlos Mencia, "See those pictures of the Sept 11th Hijackers, Achmed? You look like numbers 5, 9 and 11. Get over there, empty your bags and body cavity search BEFORE you get on the plane."
If it had been IRA, then anyone with a "Mc" or "O" in their last name would get treated the same.

Yes I do think some of them do understand but that is no reason to condone discrimination of any kind, you just have to try you best to accept people for who they are, thats what America is really about.

now you're asking people to understand why they are discriminated against by other people?
people should seriously understand that?
