Its all politics. Politicians have made it a big deal to get publicity. And as I've seen, many people being ignorant believe the things the news tells them. But what they dont get is that while there may be some bad things about illegals there are alot of good things. People that have a problem with immigration now because thats what the government/news wants them to have a problem with basically. Same thing with the iraq war. The news could make the war look really bad by showing only bad things or they could make ir look good by showing only good things. And mexicans still are quiet hardworking family first people.

What part of ILLEGAL am ( I ) not understanding?
Maybe it is because I am a poor working stiff.
Am I do mean poor the PC (and it is a windows based machine NOT something decent like an APPLE (tm) ) I am using is 10 years old the programs are freebies etcetera including net-free
I am educated to an extent. I have several AA degrees and hands on experience in a few manual labor jobs - construction , plumbing . landscaping
I am single and do not believe in a family until you can afford a family.
I also believe there are already far too many people on the planet.
I would exclude people from entering the country on that bases alone.
It comes down to why hire me at $9 above the table when you can hire someone else at $5 or less below the table
( for those not aware above the table is with the taxes workers comp, etcetera that can add as much or more than 100% to the hourly wages)
Also an illegal is far less likely to complain about anything (working conditions , unpaid over time , unpaid time , dangerous or out right illegal practices etcetera )
It surprises me that the republicans have made an issue of this because they are just the type of people to hire illegals.
Now I have sympathy for these people (I am a liberal/socialist) and the fact that they have walked 1-2 hundred miles across the desert to find work says a lot about their determination and the p*ss poor conditions in their own country.
I would like to see the conditions in there country improve to the point that they would not have to come to this country to get a good paying job. I would also like to see them breed less !
Ironic that it is such a good place to work because of all of those liberals & socialist is costing me a job.
LIFE SUCKS !
Sure they're hard workers so is everyone
Sure they're family types ( big fammily types ) [ too big family types ]
If a man has a child around 20 when he reaches 40 that child will likely be having children and wanting his job (or someone like him) When he reaches 60 there then are him his children his childrens children and his children children children annd he still has to find work to feed himself
If he lives to 80 and each generation starts the next generation before they reach 20 then there are his children his childrens childrens his childrens childrens childrens and his childrens childrens childrens children.
A lot of people needing food and a place to live and work to support the food clothing and shelter thing.
There is only so much to go aound and that includes work
I don't understand why all of you people can not seem to realize that we live on a planet and that planet isn't getting any bigger.

I have been thinking this way since I knew the problem existed. In 1954 there was the operation ******* that got rid of most illegal aliens at that time. A little something called the 911 terrorist attack on US soil opened our eyes to how vulnerable we are.
A lot of people including myself were outraged that someone from another country can come into the country without any background checks and stay forever. Not only that, but many of the terrorist had temporary visas and just never left. Blockbuster has a better tracking system for videos than we do for people.
Another thing is that the terrorist who weren't even allowed to be here were able to get drivers licenses and take advantage of many of the immigration loopholes in our system.
Another thing that has changed is that people here illegally are in such huge numbers that they are literally bankrupting many towns and destroying the culture and feel of areas. They are bringing in diseases wiped out in the US years ago and are also bringing in all the problems of their host country such as numberous gangs and drugs. It is no longer a problem in border states, every state in the nation is now struggling with the tremendous burden.
People come here illegally not just from Mexico, but from just about every country. I don't understand how you can generalize about the people in a certain country by saying that are quiet, hardworking, family first people.
If I take someone that is homeless, on welfare, or a violent criminal now and send them to Mexico and they cross the border are they now willing to do jobs American's won't do (or aren't doing as Bush says now) and are good people with family values? If anything the people that break into our country are the people we would least want to have here. We have strict citizenship requirements for people that come here legally, and we don't take kindly to people that break the law and then demand benefits.
There are billions of hardworking people that want to improve their lives, but we only have so much space in the US and can only handle so many people at once. Its the sheer number and the fact that they are organized into collective units demanding things they have no right to get.

You're honestly saying that all illegal mexicans are quiet hardworking, family first people?
If the government was allowing people to rob 7-11's (something that is illegal) would you be supportive of that? If the burglars were family first kind of people?
It is illegal, and any law should be upheld.
Rather it is wrong or right is not the question. If the gov't is going to allow them to be here, they need to repeal the law.

I'm seeing a lot of "Mexicans are having too many children". No, they are not wrong in doing this.
In the early 18th century, many poor people worked in factories for horrible wages, barely enough to live by. What did they do in response? They had more children. Because children could work at as early as 4 years old (until factory acts were passed in 1833, after which children had to be 9 years old to work), a large family was beneficial as it would bring in more money.
This is much the same as in Mexico, because, yes, children do work. So it is unfair to say that they were not making a good choice in having more children, and that this is why they have to come to America.
Another thing I saw was that they are coming and taking jobs, and that they should come here legally and work hard. However, illegal immigrants don't have to be paid minimum wage. This means cheaper labor for employers. If they come to America legally, any incentive these employers have to hire them is effectively destroyed.
So, if they come here legally, they get better wages, but it's harder to get a job. Besides that, it takes longer, and their families might need money immediately.

I worked in a meet packing plant for 2 years, so you can think whatever you want, and I'll stick with what I know. I'm not slamming mexicans, in fact, I had a very good friend that was texmex, and we still hang out. I watched a man in the breakroom hoot and hollar at some truckers wife, with his wife sitting next to him hanging her head. But a week later, he punched his own wife off of the breakroom table for not having his lunch heated up on time. Are you familliar with the term "going to the laundry mat.? It's when a group of mexicans get in the car and have a contest to see who can pick up the youngest american girl. Girls that are 11 and 12 years old. It's a different culture with different values. to answer your question, what the hell is so wrong with actually coming to america legally?

Where have you been? hidden under a rock some where? Some people feel sooooooooo sorry for illegals. BUT they don't want to be our friends, their just using our country for the money. If they are soooooooo poor, then why do i see them shopping all the time? If i shopped as much as they do i would be in the poor house. And i was looking at something for myself and all of a sudden a rude Mexican woman comes over and cuts me off where i couldn't see. And you don't understand? And my husband works HARD every day in construction, and they keep stealing his tools. He actually caught one do this and they just lied about it when he confronted them about it. Were not first, they want that position.Wipe the film out of your eyes and look for yourself. You'll see what i mean....

Yeah your right.
I think its just a election year and politicians have to stir the pot along with the media. I live on the border and illegals bother NO ONE....Its the local citizens who are the trouble makers.
Illegals just come here to work and they really keep a low profile, they certainly don't want to get in trouble with the law. The local papers and media report crime, but its all the LOCALS doing the crime, I never hear about an illegal committing a serious crime...

Hospitals going broke-States having to borrow money from others to pay for State programs. Schools overcrowded to the mass coming in too fast. Where have you been a cave?
These are big problems-too much in a short time. You can pretend it is not true-but results show different. Not that people meant to cause it--it is just the results.
