My main question is what size are you going to be displaying these prints at? Glossy looks nice for anything smaller than an 8x10.

However, if you are going to be printing a 20 x 24 then definitely matte. Even a 16 x 20 matte is very impressive. All my prints are at least 20 x 30 and I'll never use glossy for them. Matted is much better and looks more impressive overall.

depends on how they will be displayed.

Gloss pick up finger prints and will show glare, but are pretty impressive. I would not suggest putting glass over them as the emulsion on the paper may stick to the glass and cause distortion.

Matte won't be as shiny but will be more resiliant (won't pick up prints, show glare). Good for mounting under glass, and have a 'soft' look to them.

Really depends on the subject matter- do you want it to jump out (gloss) or be sorter and more relaxed (matte)

If you want the sharp finer details in the photo portrait to stand out, then you'll want glossy; matte is ideal for folks who want long term photo perservation of a portrait....and matte can have a "paint brushed" effect, too.

It depends. If you are putting them under glass and the glass will contact the photo (as in unmatted) then you want matte finish. If the glass is NOT going to touch the photo then get glossy.

professionals prefer matt or luster over gloss. glossy paper can get finger marks very easily and when displayed you may see the reflections of your room lights in it.

matte looks better to me, i dont really like glossy prints, they fingerprint too easily and they stick to glass.
