Which religious things?
Worship? All people worship something or the other (even atheists, in my experience). Christians worship (worth-ship; attribute worth to) the Christian God.
Some people do "religious things" such as rituals -- because they help set the stage for experiencing the peace or presence of God.
Some people do religious things out of rote practice (doesnt mean much to them).
Some people do religious things because their parents did them.
--
Personally, I focus on daily relationship with the Christian God (parent-child/ friend-to-friend relationship) rather than on any religious things...
--
If you are interested... I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).

Oh dear Mark sweetie, I used to do those Christian things like teach bible school and celebrate Christmas...but now that I have found you, I know that you are absoutely, without a doubt the real answer. Atheism is the only true answer. Please except me into your family of true non-believers. Thank you for finally converting this 52 year old ex-christian to the in club. I hope you will all like me now. Can I do any thing for you? Can I send you some cash? I have loads that I used to give to the church.

It seems to me that you are confusing "religious people" with Christians. Please do not get the two mixed up. At the beginning of Isaiah, God tells us that He Himself hates religion!!!
He hates the sacrifices that people make and their offerings etc. God tells us that this is an EVIL people who do this.
If you look at the RC church for example their priests go around in fancy robes and love to be greeted with the bowing of ones head, and perhaps some money shoved into their hand!!!
They make their own rules on their "religion" which has NOTHING whatsoever to do with the Bible.
EVERYTHING that the RC church does is taken from the Chaldean priests of ancient times. All their rituals are totally pagan.
True Christians, who are born again Bible believing Christians, ONLY read the scriptures, we do NOT go around wearing crucifixes or having idols in our homes, bowing down to icons and images, this is Roman Catholicism and religion, and even God hates that.

Catholics have many rituals and we do them because it is how we were taught. Just as the Jews, Buddhist, Muslims, Hindus, and Taoist have traditions and rituals, so do Catholics. As a Catholic, born and raised, I had to go through the Rites of Passage. I had to be Baptized, I had to make my First Holy Communion and I had to get Confirmed. As a Catholic that is what you do. You may also serve as an alter boy or girl, a cantor in a choir, a choir singer or leader, a nun, a priest, a lector, a Youth Minister, you name it. Catholics are a people of many traditions.

Christians are not the only group that does religious things. They have traditions, just like every religious group. They do them to honor their beliefs. They have Christmas to celebrate the birth of Jesus: who they worship. They have Easter to celebrate him, again. They go to church the same way someone from another faith would go to a place of worship. Since this country was founded by Christians, their celebrations are more prominant.

As Religious things you mean what....Yes I am dedicated and filled with the Holy Ghost but that don't mean I'm not black!!!!!
We pray to keep in contact with God, We read the bible so he can stay in contact with us, and we go to church so we can stay in contact with other Christians. And most of all we do those Religious things so you call it because we love God even though things might not be going right we know we can always count on him to give us the answer we lookin' for.......

Since all christians do not do the same thing I find it hard to answer your question. However, people do the religious things they do because they believe in God and do what they feel best shows their belief to the world.

In the world, everyone has their own religion stuff, because it's their religion. There's always a holiday to celebrate, and that's their thing. Christians celebrate christmas, because of course, the birth of Christ. Santa Claus was a imaginary person to make children celebrate for giving and recieving presents. We do religious stuff because that makes us who we are.

Whether catholic or protestant, we all have certain rituals we do. The rituals themselves do not bring us closer to God, Only faith in Jesus Christ does that, but God did give us certain rituals to do in his honor, because God likes to be honored and thought of by his people.
Take for instance the Lord's Supper. Jesus said "do this in rememberance of me". God likes to be honored, he likes to hear his people say "bless God" and when they do it in earnest, he rewards them.
And god rewards people in different ways. Some rewards come in the form of money, to others it is safety from danger, to others, it could be a peaceful day when a person has had weeks of stress. These are reasons why Christians are SUPPOSED to do rituals. Some do them to try and make themselves look pious which is totally wrong.
