Well it depends... are you a Christian?
If so, then it could be hormones (even as an adult) or some depression
If not then maybe your looking for God
Hear me out, maybe you want more to life. Just try to have a relationship with God, He wants one with you. Give Him a chance. Just tell how you feel and ask Him to comfort you and give you peace and happiness. Actually when im depressed I will sometimes read the Bible or just talk to God and pray; My favorite thing to do is go into a pretty area in nature and admire Gods creation and beauty. A lot of people who dont know God and are not satisfied with life and are looking for more are usually looking for God. The secular world automatically says this is depression and will give some meds when this isnt the answer.
Hope you feel better

Go see your doc as soon as you can. . . you could go the psychiatrist route first, but the usual path that leads down is medication. Tell your doc your symptoms. Keep a food journal for a week and see if you feel better or worse after certain foods. You didn't include your age, but that can be a factor with changing hormone levels. Pay attention to how you feel at certain times of the day. Are you taking any medication? Check the side-effects. Have you had any major changes in your life? Write down everything you can think of and take it with you to your doc. Being organized can help your doc help you. Good luck!

If the symptoms last for more than a week or two, seek medical attention. If you feel like hurting yourself, other people, pets, co-workers, boss, etc., go to the emergency room. They can help you. There is nothing wrong with YOU. DO NOT see it as something wrong with you or that you are worthless. It is a matter of chemical imbalance and out of your control. Just make sure you do what you need to do to take care of you and to make sure that you are there for your family tomorrow and the next day.

Get the book by Kevin Trudeau, "Natural Cures 'THEY' don't want you to know", it might be from something that you ate. Stay away from the doctors at all costs! If you go to the doctors, they will treat the symptoms, by giving you drugs. Drugs are a "crutch" & long term use will make you a "cripple". You can get this book at a Borders book store, Amazon.com, or eBay. If it's the last thing you do get this book! Your life will change for the better!
My kids are grown, & my daughter & I are going to see Madonna this weekend, she's really talented & ripped! Which reminds me: it wouldn't hurt to work out, get those endorphines up there, & look THAT good at 50 either! Life is short! Get with it! I hope this helps!

Joy comes from within. You alone determine your joy. It is the birthright of evey human being to move into a joyful existence.
Perhaps you are allowing the marriage, job, child, pets and so forth to determine your level of joy. If so, they will dissapoint you.
All of the things outside of yourself are insignificant to your joy and your life path. Find your joy within. Do whatever makes you feel happy. That way, you will be able to be more joyful with the marriage, job, child, pets etc.

I work every day with people that have mental heath problems. Some are slight like simple depression to paranoid scitzofrantics. If you dont normall feel this way it might not be necessarily mental, but something is depressing you. Take a look at your life, talk with someone who know you. Are you missing some excitement, has life gotten to mundane??? If none of this helps, you need to tell your doctor how you feel. He/she might be able to prescribe you something temporary to help you through this time.

Well u can try a few things, seeing a doctor to find out if its depression or just a mood swing, and I agree with Prateek, do something adventurous, crazy, wild or just something you wanted to do for a long time but have not done it yet! You will survive, don't worry, this happens to everyone at some point.

same situation here. If your wife doesn't know...share it with her. My wife and i have been seeing a couple's psychotherapist. It has been a great help. This coming from a relative non believer. My situation is almost the same. Happily married, nice home and job, wonderful pets but no children. Andwith all this i feel down.
Best of luck.

Probably it's just that you've gotten into a routine and haven't done anything different in a long time. I say go out and do something you've always wanted to do but never could for whatever reason.
It could be skydiving, bungee jumping, (trying to) write a novel, remarry your wife, or whatever send a thrill down your spine.
