Actually some Atheists do think there's going to be a reward. It's just temporary rewards like money or recognition, instead of eternal ones. And who defines what's good or better?

Without God, there is no such thing as good. That would make the atheist insane. The inevitable conclusion of atheism is hedonism. All that matters is your own enjoyment no matter the cost to others. If someone gets in your way, blow their brains out, unless they can do the same to you, then hide in the bushes and bash their brains in from behind.

That is very much the point of the lie of atheism. To convince people it is desireable to engage in heinous evil because there is no God. This is all part of a larger plot by marxism to foster evil in the world for purposes of gaining power. Hundreds of millions of people have been put to death in the most cruel fashion by these people.

And you are helping them.

Can an atheist define "good"?

Sure, each atheist has their own opinion of what "good" is. They might even extrapolate out to "the good of mankind".

No, on second thought, that's impossible because what one atheist considers "good", another atheist may not. Therefore, "good" cannot be sufficiently defined outside of each individual atheist. Therefore, there can be no objective "good".

Therefore, anyone outside of any individual atheist could not say for certain that any atheist has ever done anything "good".

This, I think, renders your question unanswerable by atheists.

Otherwise, those who acknowledge God have a standard by which to measure the actions of the atheist. As I acknowledge God's authority to define "good", I can answer your question.

I don't presuppose that atheists aren't "good". However, when atheists are doing "good" as defined by God, then yes, they are better people for it and mankind as a whole is also benefitted.

Thank God for "good" atheists.

Nobody is perfect. Nothing is perfect in this world. I am saying this from practical experiences in life minus away any religion.

And unless we can be unaffected and not be influenced by imperfect people and things around us, it's very difficult to be perfect.

There can be generally good people but who is the one to judge? Surely it is based on some standards? What is this standard? Who set them? And why does Atheist or any human being need to be subjected to them?

You know, everyone is unique whether they are atheist or not. From everyone, there is always going to be something you like about them and something you dislike about them. So try not to put everyone in a box and to label them good or bad. Better or wose. Let people be themselves, if you are comfortable with them, you will hang around them more. So it's not always true that atheist are better people when they do something good. There will be atheists who do something bad and you still like them. hahaha.

People who believe in God are just as capable of doing good without the idea that it's for a rewarding purpose.

I WILL say that doing good for someone else is always inherently selfish because it makes you feel good about yourself.

I wouldn't say we're better, but it does goes to show that some of us are good people, despite what most christians on this site thinks of us. (Like all the bashing christians are saying right now about how we're not good people because we don't believe in their god. Think about it. Who's more immature?)

now shame on you for developing your intellect ot judge people whilst being singularly grounded their religious stance. How about good people are those who....
insert redeeming values there.
humility is one of them. So is compasssion. I dont think any religious owns the market on those qualities.
