It doesn't matter who posts in this section, but every single question it seems is completely attacked by people from the other side. If a Christian posts a question, there are atheists all over it with reasons why there is no god. If an athiest posts a question, then Chritstians do exactly the same thing with reasons why there is a god. Why? If a question doesn't concern you, why can't people just leave it be? Do you really think that berating someone for their beliefs will accomplish anything? No wonder the world is messed up.

I only mentioned Athieism and Christianity because those are the two groups who are mainly at it. And by attack, I mean statements like "you are wrong/uneducated/stupid/etc because you don't believe X" or "X religion is a bunch of bs" etc.

Excellent question! I couldn't agree more!
It turns the potential for intelligent debate into a boring bar room brawl.
It is sad that people feel threatened - there is something to be learned from everyone, but I guess people feel safer questioning other peoples' beliefs than they do their own.
Talk about insecurity!!!

Well, I suppose every body has some baggage they bring--even to a forum like this. If someone is a ranting atheist, it could be because they have ' hot buttons' or unresolved issues---the same is true for the christains. It reminds me of once when I was in Harvard Square, and there was this old black street preacher, and he was doing his evangelical thing--which was cool, because there were alot of people doing different things on the street (entertainers, etc.)-- But there was this one young man with a guitar who looked like he was maybe 20--he was walking past the old man, and all of a sudden the young guy just exploded. He was screaming and yelling and started walking toward the old man like he was going to punch him out. My husband and I crossed the street to step between them, then the young guy just stomped away. I heard him say that he left Ohio to get away from people like that preacher. The old man wasn't doing anything unkind or impolite, but the young guy obviously had some unresolved baggage left over from home. It happens. Some christains can be the same way. We're all human. But a little charity in debate goes a long way.

Hoping the best for you...

Yea, I agree. Also, the world is messed up because some people are so ignorant as to believe that Christianity and aetheism are the only two beliefs in the world, although the biggest belief in the world is Islam, with Judiasm coming in second place. Why do some people only consider Christianity and aethiesm???

I do not. The fact is, that the word can be used as a sword or a shepards staff. As you have noted, many prefer the sword. I have tried it , yet, beating one with ones religion is a very hollow victory. Many ignore such scriptural guidelines as:

Pro.10:23 To the stupid one the carrying on of loose conduct is like sport, but wisdom is for the man of discernment.
Pro17:10 A rebuke works deeper in one having understanding than striking a stupid one a hundred times.
Pro13:13 A son is wise where there is a father’s discipline, but the ridiculer is one that has not heard rebuke.
Pro17:10 A rebuke works deeper in one having understanding than striking a stupid one a hundred times.
Pro9:7 He that is correcting the ridiculer is taking to himself dishonor, and he that is giving a reproof to someone wicked—a defect in him. 8 Do not reprove a ridiculer, that he may not hate you. Give a reproof to a wise person and he will love you. 9 Give to a wise person and he will become still wiser. Impart knowledge to someone righteous and he will increase in learning.

Little Lady...People learn until the day they die..We are not all robots ,doing everything the same...for what? Again this is Q & A. We all have our Yahoo. We participate because there is the need. All you children, best wake up...This is part of our freedom that our father's and grandfather's fought and died for in WWII.Otherwise Hitler would have busted your bubble..Education is part of our strength. The world is messed up because of their stupidity. They forget why we live free. Your O.K. just open your books again..Just 1 more point.. Do you want your trial lawyer to be able to argue your case??? They are on opposite sides. Till Dinner, then they go eat together.......

Nope. Voicing against someone else's beliefs does not accomplish anything. But I would remember that we're free to express ourselves, that's why Yahoo! establish this website, so we common people are able to express our beliefs and opinion on topics... including those topics that we don't agree on.
And No, simply expressing my belief does not mean that I'm "Attacking" others' beliefs unless I use terms such as "XXX religion is bullshit"- this is an attack; and if you see such statement, I would simply ignore them because it shows only minds of Un-educated people.
I hope you don't feel threatened by someone else's beliefs simply because they're posted on this website.

I feel threatened by religious beliefs because their holy books feel it is justified, nay, RIGHTEOUS for them to kill anybody of any opposing beliefs. It even states right in the bible and quran that anybody who does not kill "heathens" is not a good christian/muslim.

Also, in the US rampant christian fundamentalism is ruining such important things as the educational system (evolution = science), and up and coming medical research (stem cells). These "harmless beliefs" are clouding our childrens' educations with lies and squelching possible cures to life-threatening diseases.

I do not look down on anyone for their beliefs, but I will say this. I do not want to be the one standing in front of God having to be judged for going around saying he doesn't exist. Every breath you take is because of him. He is the only one who can make you have your last breath. The devil can't take your life on God can.

I dont believe in god.. However I think its good that people can have that much faith in something that really no one knows exists.. (not to offend but its the truth)
I totally agree with what you are saying.. If a question doesnt concern you just leave it! dont answer it just to make someone feel bad!

My problem is when you mention not being christian how everyone seems to gang up on you and tell you that you're wrong. Well according to my beliefs I am not wrong. Why can't people just accept that everyone has different beliefs and ideas....and just leave it at that
