yes, it will be easier to handle for camp too. just take some moose and you can let it air dry. be sure to tell the stylist that you want the big curls too! swimming will not make a difference for the perm, just condition it after shampoo, something you should do anyways!
have fun!!!

i say dont do it i just got my hair permed and i wanted big sexy curls and i ended up with hair that looks more kinky then curled and i had to cut half of it off because it got too damaged from the chemicals, i have really thick hair and it was half way down my back so they had to use a ton of stuff on my hair and it stinks so bad and took almost 3 hours to do and now i wish i had left it straight and sexy and just used a curling iron when i wanted it curly

In my experience, a new perm requires a lot more care than straight hair. If you're going on a mission trip, I'm assuming its overseas, and maybe not in the best of places to worry about hair care. I'd say wait til you get back, especially with hair as long as yours. You'll need to care for it daily by using a pick, and making sure it doesn't get tangled. I think you'll get more than you bargained for by doing it before you go.

Do not perm your hair. Perms are so 80's. Just use rollers or a curling iron.

perming doesnt hurt
it does break and damage ur hair wen not done right.
u would have to cut ur hair to ur shoulders before anyone would even consider doin it and probably have it thinned out.
personally u seem like a young and smart girl i wouldnt do it but its ur decission and u need to speak to ur stylist

don't do it because number 1 you might change your mind and go swimming and number 2 you'll sweat it out and your hair will start to break off because you won't have everything you need to keep it up right.
