It probably contributed a whole lot to trouble I had after I did. It is wrong. Ask your Pastor.
God specifically says not to talk to the dead-for one. It is an opening for demonic entity to come into your life. Please don't. You don't want to find out you shouldnt have after the fact. Its easier to avoid, than with faith to work your way out of a mess.
My sis was living with our sis in law and they threw a Ouija Board out. It showed up back in the house. My sis in law broke it, ready to throw it out and they both heard the cry of an old woman come from it. (Didnt Meagan or Reagan in The Exorcist play with one and developed a friendship with a "Captain" somebody?) The movie was based on a real case. Its not play. Its real.

Most Christians will say that it is against Christianity, but I was raised in the church and I had a friend who was killed by his father when he was 15. Two of my friends and I wanted to see if we could talk to him. We found out that the only spirits that will talk thru a Ouiji Board are the ones that are taken from this world violently and unwillingly. Most of the time nothing happens when none believers try to talk to the dead. Go ahead and have a little bit of fun with your friends and make them think that they are talking to the dead, perhaps someone all of you know and who knows all of you. Spell out some events that some or all of you know about. Now, if it actually starts to move on its own let it spell out what it wants it can make you change your mind about spirits. Now, it is true that you can not burn or throw them away, they will always come back to the owner. No Joke!!
I have never heard of a Ouiji Board taking over someone's mind and making them forget what they've done.

I am an Occultist. Ouiji boards are a tool of magick. Not particularly good magick either. Though they can occasionally find someone who has passed away they are far more likely to summon a demon. This demon should the proper rituals be ignored (like at a party of people who do not know anything of magick) can in fact possess them. It happens to several Ouiji board users and people like me are usually asked to remove the possession and deal with cleaning up the horrible mess.
There is good news though, ouiji boards are not very successful. They will only summon things at random, sometimes they summon absolutely nothing.
As far as it going against Christianity i have a few things for you to look up in your bible. Please note most of these refer to murdering all practitioners of magick, which is precisely what you will become should you take part in the ouiji ritual.
exodus 22:18
leviticus 19:26
deuteronomy 18:9-13
2 kings 21:1-6
There are appoximately 50 more portions of the bible that do not condone my activity and at least ten of those wish my kind to death.
Do not meddle in magick,
Silence

This is a good question, I'm tempted to ask yahoo ppl whether ouiji boards really do anything or whether it's all in the minds of the players.
I'm thinking that the game is actually just a game (as opposed to opening the gateway of communication with demons...). However, intentions of the players may not be so innocent. I think if you play believing the game to be such a "gateway of communication", this is not good.
Remember, you are a role model to those around you, so even if you don't believe in the game but you play with people who do believe, it will appear that you whole heartedly participate. I think this is not wise, but it is up to you.
I will pray for your decision and that you may speak Truth in Love to your friends and to those around you.

BE WARNED!!
Do NOT mess with the Ouija Board...it is not a toy!
The spirits that you will channel and beckon are malevolent and
unpredictable and from the moment you make contact, you, and
the other unfortunate individual who is touching the planchette,
will forever be under their evil power and influence.
These spirits of the dead will do evil and terrible things throughout the rest of your life. The place they come from is not a place where you would ever want to go.
Anyone who says it is "just a game", really knows not the truth of
this portal to the dark side, known as the Ouija Board.
Hear this: once you open the door, it at once cannot be closed again.

Yes, it is. I'd love to be able to say you could play it, but its not so much immoral as a sin. The sin involved is contacting demons, not ghosts. The demons pretend to be people and answer the questioners through the board (see the Witch of En-dor and King Saul in the Holy Bible) King Saul thought he was contacting someone dead, but instead the witch contacted a demon pretending to be him, because of this God disowned King Saul for being Haughty and disobeying him (King Saul KNEW the rules about contacting the spirits and the truth about demons but felt that HE knew better and that as KING they would respect HIM). It cost him his friendship with God and the next day his life and the lives of his sons. (1 Samuel 28:7)

It does go against Christianity. According to Christianity you need to steer clear of anything that is evil or may be perceived as evil. This includes the Ouiji Board. You need to stay away, far, far away!! Please don't have anything to do with Ouiji boards!

yes it is against Christianity and best off avoided whether you are a christian or not.
i used to know something who started messing about with a Ouija board and then soon after was arrested for doing things that he had no memory of (memory blank) - for things that were unlike him.
it is against Christianity because it is consulting 'spirits' (demons) about various matters and they are meant to communicate using an alphabet in return.
the trouble is that once you open the door to something like that CLOSING it again after is another story.
for biblical backup you may wish to look up Deuteronomy 18 and Leviticus 19 to see what the bible says about 'divination' which equally applies here
i hope this helps you make a wise decision about your friends party and pray plenty before you go

you're right, you can't talk to the dead. But you can talk to demons, and demons can always impersonate a dead person. Ouiji Boards are just asking for trouble, do you really want to expose yourself to demonic forces? I would suggest that you don't go to that party.
