It's been about 12 years. The dentist bonded it, but said I might have trouble with it in about 10 years. It hurts alot now...is this the trouble he was talking about? What do I do?

probably needs a root canal. i ran into a truck on my bike when I was around that age, and the nerve is going to eventually die. I was told that the dentist probably should have done the root canal when I did it, because like you, I began having pain in my early-mid 20s and it was air senstive, water sensitive, you name it. a real pain. go to your dentist and s/he will take care of you!

First of all, as everyone else said, go to the dentist.

If your tooth was broken off by some kind of trauma, though, and it hurts a lot now, I would suspect that the trauma has finally caught up with you and the pulp (nerve and blood vessels) in the tooth has died. Yes, it CAN take ten years. If that is the case, your pain can be relieved and your tooth saved by a root canal treatment. So, having said all that, call your dentist in the morning and tell him what's going on. You can probably get an emergency visit to get you out of pain before the weekend starts.

Sounds like this tooth is dying. What you need to do is call your dental office and let them know what's going on. More than likely you will need a root canal to save this tooth, don't worry, they're easy! If it's hurting, they will probably perscribe you an antibiotic to take care of the infection. Hope this helps. Good luck

That just happened to my sister!.... like a week ago! And then part of the tooth fell off. So she went back to the dentist and they redid it! It is all good now. So I would try that! Good luck!

Wouldn't the smart answer be, go to the Dentist? I'm sure that they could answer this immediately and as a bonus, might even clean them for you?
Do you not go every 6 months for a checkup?

Your bonding is probably breaking down. Bonding doesn't last forever, so you should get it redone, have a 'cap' or neveer made for it, or get it pulled and have a false tooth put in.

if your tooth is starting to hurt, it may mean that the nerve is dying. if this is the case, you will need a root canal and a crown. don't worry. root canals are a piece of cake these days.
