oh my god, i'm actually wearing a shirt right now that says "HUGS ARE BETTER THAN DRUGS" and it has a bear on it... there are ppl in my family who do/have done drugs and it messed up their brains and now they're really dumb and stupid! haha their fault!!!
so yeah, i agree with u, it's dumb and not worth it.........

I think people do drugs because they are ignorant, they don't know any better. They may also use drugs to escape the pain of their own perception of their own reality. There are also many different kinds of drugs too you know. Alchohol, in my opinion, when misused or abused, is one of the most hurtful drugs, and it's legal, perhaps because it's legal. Just look at what alchohol has done to families. It's a tragedy. You are right for the most part. Drugs are dumb and stupid. I believe that education is the cure for drug use and abuse. Teach the children how dumb and stupid drugs really are and we may have a chance at ridding our society of them. After all, they are a product of supply and demand like any other product. Stop the demand and the supply will no longer be needed.

Your question is a good one. Why do people choose to do drugs?
I would suppose there is a number of reasons people turn to drugs... it could be they do drugs because:
* They are misinformed about the risks
* Peer pressure, wanting to fit in
* They use drugs to erase the pain of abuse, hurt, loss, etc.
* They don't respect their bodies, nor their mind
Whatever the reason is, it's the wrong reason. Drugs hurt and drugs cause irreversable damage to a person. Be informed, say no, and if the folks that are offereing give you a hard time they are not your friends; nor should one hang around with other people who do use drugs.

If kids (people in general) are less likely to consume drugs by 20% because they eat dinner at the table with their family and are 60% less likely to consume drugs if they can play an orchestra instrument and another 10% less likely to consume drugs if they play a team sport; the answer to your question logically be because they are lacking family connection, have no talent to call their own and are just plain bored?

Well, people do it for various reasons.I agree, it's not the smartest thing. People start off thinking that it would cool and they enjoy the sensation they get and soon they become dependent on that drug because it makes them feel good. people use drugs to escape reality and to escape from their problems.
That is the sad thing about addiction. Once someone starts, they don't want to stop. Addictions really are difficult to break.

Most of them were in the wrong place with the wrong people and peer pressure and once they tried it , it was to late to even try to stop. Or some people feel like drugs were their last resort to getting away from the world and it's problems. some people are dumb and stupid and do it for fun. some people doing because it makes them forget the bad things that happened in their pass and current. they just want to feel good and happy so they wont have to feel sooo depressed. they know anyway it will come back the next. they just want to feel high for a couple of days just to get by in feeling sad.

kristen, they do drugs because it makes them feel good. now, why would someone need drugs to feel good about themselves?
because their soul is a vacuum.

but seriously, you sound young so here's some advice: stay away from it and people who do it. don't get dragged into their sad little world because once you do, you won't realize it 'til you hit the rock-hard bottom and believe me..."rock-hard bottom" is a lot more lonely and a lot less sexier than it sounds.

Some people do drugs because an illness or medical disability hooks them.
Some do drugs out of boredom and despair.
Some do drugs as part of peer pressure.
Some do drugs as they are curious
