No, it's different. Fasting is simply the refusal to eat. Usually to try and prove a point or make a stand - most likely political.

No, fasting is a restriction one puts on their diet for religious or personal beliefs. Many different religions have periods of fasting where they may not eat certain foods such as dairy or meat. Some people fast in protest of an issue they believe in as a way to make their point. Anorexia and bulimia are both types eating disorders and should be treated by a medical professional.

Usually fasting is a religious thing. Christians and Jews sometimes fast in an attempt to grow closer to God. When you go a day or two without food (or 40, like Jesus did) your flesh (body) becomes weak. This strengthens your spriritual dependence on God.
Or your doctor may have you fast from the night before some type of glucose or radiology study so the results are accurate.
Not eating because of anorexia, etc. is just called "starving yourself".

Fasting is something people do in regards to their religion. Fasting is different for different religions. Christians can drink water but are not allowed to eat. Muslims on the other hand fast from sun up to sun down without food or water. The physical aspect of fasting is only the outer shell. Fasting is a way to cleanse yourself. Fasting is not just stopping the intake of food/water for certain periods of times during the course of the day. It also requires giving your complete and utter self to the god of your choice. You have to give up worldy pleasures along with food or water.

Fasting is when you stop eating for a small amount of time, for example if you need a blood test done the doctor will tell you to fast for 12 hours before the test. No food, no water for 12 hours or longer depending on the test.

No! It can be to protest something i.e. Gandhi or religious fasting to show sacrifice.Neither usually lasts to the point of anorexia-starvation or bulimia-binge and purge-self induced or with laxative use. Those are eating disorders. if you know anyone doing this type of activity, advise them to seek help or get the help to them. Peace.

Fasting is to skip meals . . . typically for religious purposes, although some diets recommend starting with a fast and waiting for true hunger signals.
Anorexia means loss of appetite/appeal of food.
Bulimia is eating and then inducing vomiting for weight control.

Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming, running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions, pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull, leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)

Fasting has nothing to do with those psychological problems. See site below with info on it by 6 MDs, one who says that it saved his life. At bottom of site it has a 7th MD with a book with everything he has cured treating patients for 30 years with fasting. Also done by Hippocrates, Aristotle and Plato.
