What is your response when people push by you in a grocery store and grab items?

It annoys me as much as it does you, hon. But unlike me, some folks just hate to shop fer groceries - and a lot of 'em are women, despite the stereotype that says us men are the ones who hate it.
I recognize that today's families are often frantically short of time, and while careful planning can help, many folks are out for groceries at or near the end of a stressful day at work or school and their patience is just about exhausted. That's when I can set my little example by being extra tolerant of folks who behave as you describe. Yeah, it's rare, but I actually have had folks notice and thank me for it. What the hey, I made someone else's day a little less of a hassle and it cost me - what, a few seconds?

I admit, when I was younger there were times when I'd lay into some friggin' fool like a wild Irishman - well, jeez, I AM half Irish - but even though I was the baddest of the bad when it came to verbal or physical confrontation, that was such a lot of energy to waste, after all. I mean, the day I cold-****** two big dudes AND the store's security officer - nah, didn't happen, but I sure thought about it! I've only clobbered one bad shopper, and he was shoplifting and deserved it. But the rest - come on, give 'em a break. You don't really need the additional stress of busting 'em up, now do ya? Everyone'll feel better if ya keep kewl, ya know?

Hey at least you are getting the "excuse me"

At the store, when someone just darts in front of me to either just get ahead of me, or get a item, so that they can hear me,I politely say, "No no, excuse me, I didn't realize I was in YOUR way." Most people get the hint that they have been a bit rude and quickly apologize for their faux pas, but those few who think they have a quick come back, usually leave the scene with their tail between their legs after I get done dressing them down on their lack of manners and inconsideration of others. And I walk away feeling that I've done good! I know I feel better anyway!

Hmm, I can tend to be a bit mean and tell them to wait their turn just like everyone else. Grocery shopping isn't something I enjoy doing...especially not at Wal-Mart..everyone seems so rude. Theres times I would just like to look at those people and go "There is no excuse for you"

I usually grab a can or a pointy vegetable, such as a carrot and either bash them on the forehead with the can or force the pointy vegetable into the ear or nostril off the rude offender

That doesn't happen to me. Are you in a bad part of town? LOL

What happens to me is, people turn on the wrong side of the lane to shorten their turn, and practically run into me. Also, people get into long checkout lines and block the aisle without trying to adjust so they are not blocking.

If you are just standing there and they know what they want - who cares? You were blocking them, so they probably have more right to be snippy you. Really, it's nothing to get worked up about. They said excuse me, they didn't do any harm, so I'd just move on. : )

well if they say excuse me nicely and they dont literally push me, then its ok. unless its the last item and i wanted it. then i would be like "um i was about to grab that". if they really did push me and they didnt say excuse me nicely id just push them back, take what was in their hand and say "no excuse me". well i would want to, but i doubt i would. i would just be like "ugh" in my head and forget about it. and i would prolly tell my friends and family about it later and be like "the nerve"

Why bother doing anything if they say excuse me? Just say, "Oh no, go ahead." and let them by. It really makes someone's day if you'll just be polite to them, even when they are not.

Just ignore them, some shoppers are probably in a hurry and as a result they forget their manners.

Hey at least they say excuse me where you are...here they just edge their way ahead of you like you're not even there.
