If you're going to the AF Academy for personal reasons, you're going for the wrong reasons. The correct reason is that you love your country and would like to live a life of honor by serving it. Those wo attend the service academies for personal reasons tend not to have a very good time.

Okay. Getting into the academy is harder than harvard. They have about 20,000 fully qualified applicants per year for 1500 slots. There is no reason to be an officer candidate by being elisted first. You can go to college first & OTS, or ROTC while at college. ROTC accounts for about 80% of all officers commissioned.
As far as career goals later in life, an Acad degree looks pretty good. After you take all the core required classes it is two more for an engineering degree or six more for a history degree (lots of math/engineering is required). It is very challenging academically. HOWEVER, so far as a civilian job after the military, your degree will be fairly meaningless, certianly where you got it from means nothing. Your work experience, skill, expertise, leadership, team skills, & mgmt on a resume will mean lots. In the AF you can potentially (depending on your job) work at the cutting edge, plus your security clearence. When you get out that package will be very marketable.
If you are not 16, an honors student, a starting varsity athlete, & highly involved in community & character based activities (at least 15-30 hours per week), with demonstrated leadership skills, AND prepared to continue logging that process on a resume for the next couple years as you being the application process now, then just don't waste your time cause you're probably not getting in. A lot of people with those qualifications that have dreamed about it since they could walk aren't going to get in. Figure out what you want to do, set your mind to it, worker harder than you ever have in your life, & refuse to fail, that's the only way to do this or anything big in life.

If your goal in life is definitely geared towards being an officer in the Air Force, first decide what area interest you the most. For example, Air force logistics or engineering. Logistics meaning supply, food services or traffic. Engineering could be Airfield Engineer officer or pilot. If you are pursuing one of these area's a degree in business or engineering would be great. If this is not an option then apply to a university program and take a few courses reflecting your interest to the military recruiting centre. Or option 2 call the recruiting centre and set up an appointment with them, explain your interest accompanied by aptitude test and interview. Also volunteering with youth and community organizations is a very good asset to have but not a prerequisite. I hope you proceed with your interest concerning the officer candidate program. Just remember officers are people managers (human resources), not hands on like NCM's (none commissioned members). Cheers MCpl Dawe WFE Tech.

in the adventure that your college is on the semester device, quarter grades are irrelevant. they're period in-between grades and do not discern in Gpa. Semester grades are what count number and be sure Gpa and sophistication rank which Usafa is extra drawn to than Gpa is in accordance to weighted Gpa. The extra significant difficulty is what class you acquire a C in and what ought to correctly be executed to carry your semester grade up contained in the category. If the grade became in Algebra1, 2 or Geometry, and also you've been attempting then the deficiency in previous information will want to be addressed at present or there's a intense danger of persevering with to do lower than expectancies. If it became in a overseas language it also will want to be addressed at present. the same if it became Chemistry, regardless of the indisputable fact that the former information in ordinary words extends to the starting up of the category this semester. In different topics it may well be achievable to boost the grade by employing doing properly on the hot cloth.
