im 15 and i smoke but it sucks when dads not home that means i cant buy them

because generaly people younger than 18 are smart enough to know better... you are apparently the exception to the rule. .. you just dont die from lung cancer.. your whole life gets slowed down , you contract more ailments more often and more severly untill you die a slow painfull pathetic death... and it seems kids before the age of 18 relize this .. then they get taken in by advertising and peer presure.. i'm sure you look cool to your friends.. but when you turn 30- 40yrs old and see a teenager smoking you will see how childish & pathetic they are trying to be all grown up.. you are grown up when you can controll such childish harmfull habits .. not when you submit to them...and believe me when i say i'm well aware this advice will have no effect on you.. i'm only writing this because as an adult i am "obliged"[ do you know what that word means??] to do something, say something when i see a child acting dangeously.. now i've done my part.. you do as you please..but you cant say "ongjon" didn't try to help. ps the longer you smoke , the harder it is to quit .. every puff makes a diffrence..

18 is basically the time where under law you are an adult. I think a lot of it comes from the idea that at 18 you can decide what to do with your body (ie: tattoos, piercings etc.) I think smoking just falls under that. That is why there is such a huge debate about the drinking age.

In some states the age means for tobacco purchases not consumption. I haven't seen a law on the books in some of the states I have worked in that addresses underage smoking. Now, I did as a teen myself test this and one state I know of almost nailed my butt up for smoking underage and that was Nebraska.

Cause when you are 18, you are considered an adult, and according to the government its only when you are an adult that you can make major decisions like smoking.

You don't have to be eighteen to smoke, you have to be eighteen to buy them legally. Do yourself a favor and quit before its too late. My Mother died from lung cancer caused by smoking cigarettes. I smoked them as well, up until her death. I promised her that I would quit and I did. That was sixteen years ago September 12th. Good luck.

It's not illegal to smoke when your under 18.
It's illegal to buy/attempt to buy cigs/cigar/dip when your under 18.

18 is when you are considered an adult, and that is when you can make decisions for yourself. as an adult.
