he's a chihuahua, and his breathing is fine during the day, but at night, when he sleeps, he snores and it is really really annoying. is that just something i'm gonna have to deal with, or is there something i can do to make him stop. he's 3 years old and he has snored every day since we got him when he was a puppy.
help?

Oh, gosh...I have the same problem with my three Labs. The male snores the loudest...go figure! LOL! It's normal. Just wait until he starts having dreams. He'll be dreaming about the big dogs getting him. That is normal, too. Just rub his back gently when he starts snoring or dreaming, and that will reassure him. Sometimes, he might stop; other times, he may not. Don't worry, though.

i also have a chihuahua who sleeps with me evey night, only it doesn't snore, anyways, on u should have never let it start to sleep with you 1 i say good luck with a 3 year old dog that is used to sleeping with you! ****** well i sugest that you try to get the dog a kennel and have it sleep in the kennel in a diffrent room than you sleep in with a t.V so that you can't hear the dogs snoring over it, and also with the dog being alone the t.v should comfort it, and if that doesn't work, ask a vet on whut to do in this siduation. They should know!

My dogs all snore, especially the mastiffs. It took some getting used to, but now it's like a "white noise" that I don't really hear. Funny thing, when we go away, I miss the snoring.

The only way to stop it for sure is surgery. He has partial obstruction to airflow. Some breeds (the ones with the flat face, like pugs and bulldogs) are famous for snoring. I haven't heard about it in chihuahuas.

You can try making sure his head is elevated but it probably won't help very much.

My dog sleeps with me at night, too! When my dog snores I just wake her up. I don't think she likes it too much.... but at least she stops snoring then! Good luck!

welcome to the world of dogs. they all snore and bark or growl in their dreams. just wake him up before you go to bed so you can go to sleep first. wait till they sleep next to you and let loose a chemical warfare from gas they have. you just deal with it and love them. in case anyone tells you to try it, the breathright nasal strips don't work on dogs.

too funny....maybe he can sleep elsewhere, like at the entrance of the bedroom...you might mention this problem to your vet he may have a serious condition like sleep apnea
