Where does the water on the top of my KETCHUP and MUSTARD come from?
Every time I get the ketchup or mustard out of the fridge, and don't shake it up, the first shot is just a watery colored flow. If you shake it up no problem. Okay, so I have squirted this water out of the bottle, because I usually forget to shake it up, and so I have squirted out water at least 40 times. Where does the new water come from every time? The ketchup and mustard are not dehydrating, I can tell because the consistency is the same. The water separates out, okay, so how much water do you have to squirt out of it to make it stop? I just don't understand.

In the beginning The Flying Spaghetti Monster (BBHNA) - Blessed Be His Noodley Appendages - decided that mankind could not live by bread alone: he must have faith - as small as a mustard seed. And that in order to have faith, man must have grounds for faith. So we have ground mustard seed.

Furthermore, since woman had been created first, man must catchup. Thus we have ketchup too.

Now then, how was man to receive this miracle? It was obvious! The Flying Spaghetti Monster, the only Creation Story with Balls (two of meat), spread His seed liberally all over Creation. So what you are seeing in your ketchup and mustard is the Divine Essence of the Creator.

So let us not spill that on the ground, ok there, Onan?

Wow, how spiritual

NOT.

The reason why liquid comes out of the bottle is because after the ketchup and mustard sit in the fridge for a while, the solids begin to separate from the liquids, didn't you ever watch Bill Nye the Science Guy? You can never squirt all of the water out of it or it would turn into a dryed up dusty pile

the mustard seeds mixed with water and other liquid, the seeds even though finely ground are heavier and sink to the bottom leaving the liquid on top.

Same rule applies to the ketchup.

It could be from two possible reactions. I) The water in the condiments separate and 'rise' to the surface. 2) *And the most likely, condensation, from the changes in temperatures, forming on the sides and or lids of the container, and then falling to the surface forming a pool of water.

Umm.... I don't know? I mean, I could give you a deep, scientific answer, but I couldn't guarantee that it'd be right. I'm not much of a science freak. So, I'll stick with the "I don't know". God bless!
