You can not catch it from your dog or from fleas, but you can catch it from deer ticks (Ixodes scapularis). Other ticks are non-carriers and are a lot bigger than deer ticks, who are are very small (about the size of a freckle). The one that got me was even smaller and a male. I did not get Lyme Di ease.

Good news, "Not all ticks are infected, and studies of infected deer ticks have shown that they begin transmitting Lyme disease an average of 36 to 48 hours after attachment. Therefore, your chances of contracting LD are greatly reduced if you remove a tick within the first 48 hours."

You should get educated about the tick and about Lyme disease.

Well to be on the risk-free aspect, i might think now not however then again, lyme stays dormant in a dogs physique and it could actually do the identical in people too. What i would do is look it up on the net and examine Lyme disease. 2nd factor is why is the dog biting a little lady? No canine must be allowed to chunk and then the 2nd time to the same child. You have to stop the canine proper away and show the canine that you are in cost and now not the canine. What you do is stop the biting and growling and attacking other puppies proper away with water within the face. I know alot of people do not suggest water nevertheless it has stoped many of dogs in my existence time and i exploit it when essential and no other time. Squirt the dog when it desires to chew and say NO firmly and no other phrases as dogs do not recognize sentences like people do. Then when the canine stops, take away the dog faraway from the baby. Preserve doing this each time the canine will get close the baby and spray water within the face. What you're doing is correcting the dangerous behavior of the dog. Now if the canine is around other dogs, what you have to do is leash the dog normally and have control of the leash at all times. When the canine goes through an additional canine or sees one more dog, you gently guide the canine in yet another path and do not say something or act scared. Make sure the canine does no longer consider or feel you being scared or this may increasingly intensify the worry and the canine is not going to hear. Go far from all dogs and preserve your canine watching at you and you can do this once the canine stops looking or barking. Once you have the dog beneath control, that you would be able to walk a different direction. If this occurs at house looking out a window, close the window with a curtainor dispose of the dog far from the window or door. Once more use a leash to help the canine recognize that it can't chew or go after an additional dog. Preserve the dogs concentration on whatever else and if that doesn't work, use the water and the canine will discontinue.

Lyme disease is transmitted through the bite of a specific tick. Fleas do not transmit the disease. If you have been bitten by a tick recently, see your doctor. But that is the only way that the disease is contracted. Borrelia requires the tick as part of its life cycle.

Hopefully your dog is being treated with the proper antibiotics. Ask your vet and your family doctor the likelihood of you needing testing and treatment as well.

Not through fleas, but you can through ticks. Lyme disease (Lyme borreliosis) is a bacterial infection that is spread by ticks. You may develop Lyme disease if you are bitten by an infected tick. Your risk of developing Lyme disease increases if an infected tick stays attached to your skin for 36 to 48 hours.

Lyme disease is carried by deer tics. It is possible if the fleas have the disease as well. Both parasites bite and when they do, they transfer whatever disease they have to humans.

No, not from a flea..you would have to have an infected tick attach to you to get it! Fleas are not carriers of lyme disease.

don't think fleas will transmit it... but ticks will. That's more than likely how it caught the disease. If a tick falls off it and bites you.. than you can be afflicted with the disease
