I have had a lot of emotional stress in my life lately and along with it I've been getting sick. I still get hungry a little, but their is no longer any food that tastes good. I have to force it down. Even my favorite foods have lost their appeal. I also get nausea after I eat. Sometimes I throw up. I've lost 12 lbs in three weeks without trying to. Could this just be stress, or something more? Has anyone else experienced something similar?

It could definitely be stress but the same thing happened to me when I started menopause. (I hope you are a woman). Go see the Dr. and get it checked out. It really could be a lot of things.

It's stress, likely a lot of anger being held down, as that flight-or-fight response does seriously inhibit digestion.

If this is going on for several days though, I'd get offline and see a doctor, like NOW, like in the emergency room. Really, you can't last more than three days without water, and all the vomiting is likely leaving you *dehydrated* as well as mal-nourished.

Besides that...if you are in the hospital, you can be *away* from the sources of your stress for at least 12 hours, during which time you can consult with a doctor and *try* to get more professional help than what us Yahoos can offer.

So....go see a doctor. Go to your Emergency Room now. What have you got to lose?

could just be stress, but losing 12 lbs in a few weeks sounds like something more serious! u might have some kind of stomach problem, especially with the throwing up. i would definitely go to your family doctor, and if he cant help u or figure out what is wrong, i am sure he will send u to someone more specialized, for physical or mental examination. i wouldn't waste anymore time letting this go: it sounds as if your health is at stake...good luck to you.

Yes, emotional stress can cause you to lose your appetite. Just to be sure, why not make an appointment with your doctor for a check up - tell the doctor your symptoms. 12 pounds in 3 weeks is not normal, that's why it's important to get a professional opinion. Good luck.

This is very concerning...This could be stress but it could also be physiologic...I would get to my own personal doctor asap and get a good physical exam..then see if your physician thinks you need to talk with a mental health clinician..Our mental health can certainly take a toll on our physical well being..that is why I am concerned and hope you get help right away..We often don't know why we feel or act the way we do..often it's something we have no control over and need help to find out and get us back on the right track..I wish you the very best and get those answers you need...

I experianced the same thing. Yes, it could be stress/anxiety. Go talk to your doctor about getting some meds. Mine was bad, lasted about 5 months. lost 3 pant sizes. Now I am normal again. Good Luck!

Stress becomes depression--- some of what you are describing sounds like depression. Stress can also manifest in physical ailments. Ulcers, stomach problems are common for those under emotional stress.

See your doctor, talk to him about all the issues at play.

God bless you.

Those are classic symptoms of stress, go see a doctor, and if you need to, a psychologist.

Or just find some one you can vent on. Having so much stress that these sypmtoms arise is bad, it puts so much un-needed stress on your cardiovascular system in the form of high blood pressure. Its not healty.
