I was going to write the following answer:
"Balloons don't look cheezy for kids' parties and perhaps the wedding of your puppy....but that whole concept in itself is cheezy. So balloons are really only good when you have your kids!"
but on second thoughts....
"This is your day and you can do whatever the hell you want. If you like balloons, flowers and candles all together then everyone else can accept it while they eat their free meal!"

I think that you can but it might be good to keep it separate. A really chic look would be to have some tables with flower arrangements and some with candles and then use the balloons around the edge of the area where the reception is. I would say that maybe staying away from huge balloon sculptures (you know, like archways and all that) might look a little nicer than to have them, you can just use the balloons to accent the walls or something.
I've seen a few centerpieces that have both balloons and candles, and they always seem to look really busy unless you are just using one type of flower and have a simple, clean looking centerpiece. If you use them on different tables it kind of keeps it interesting I think. But you can definitely mix them all together without looking too cheesy.

Every time I go to a wedding and see ballons I think "cheezy". Put some flowers and candles...that's it!!

I had balloons at my reception and everyone thought they were nice. We used pearlized and metallic balloons, so they were soft. I probably wouldn't go with bright colors, as they might look too juvenile.
As everyone is so fond of saying, it's you and your finace's day, so do what makes you happy. Maybe look online for some photos of reception sites where they have used balloons as part of the decor and see if you like the look!
Good Luck!

Not if you decorate it correctly... use flowers and candles for the tables... use Balloons along the walls and around the entrances. If you use a balloon 'arch' It will look very pretty.

It's you wedding and you can do whatever you want. As long as you combine them tastefully, they should look nice together.
