In response to dowjonesindulstrial's answer, the Shroud of Turin IS real, just not authentic, but it shows how long linen can last if correctly preserved. My cammies (Marine Corps for BDU) are ten years old, and just as good as the first time I wore them. I have a pair that I used to wear hunting that belonged to my father when he was in the Marines that are from the late 70's, and that was just hanging in the closet. So they were twenty years old when I was using them.

BDU's don't have a shelf life per se. Usually they are worn until worn out or faded (which usually happens first). They are all being replaced now by the ACU anyway. What is the reason for the question and maybe I can give you a better answer.

Cotton can last for a long time, but not forever. (You don't see cloth from millennia ago, and the Shroud of Turin is certainly not real). But properly preserved in a dark and cool place will preserve an outfit for a long time.
