As compared to what? You? You don't even know the answer to your own question. A smart person would know that only a stupid person would even ask a stupid question like that, and therefore not ask it.
Ergo, you're not too bright.

That's a good question. I think there are lots of reasons:

In modern society, smart people have fewer children, while stupid people breed like cats. So with each generation, the stupid become more numerous.

People are lazy. But thinking, researching, reading, etc takes effort and energy.

Stupidity is glamorized as being "cool", while intellectuals are scoffed at and mad fun of. Its "cool" to watch MTV. Its not "cool" to watch PBS.

Not everyone, just the ones who don't know what Genealogy means. So, that makes you be on the stupid list. Therefore I am on the Smart List which includes all the other Genealogists in this category.

What is stupid? Possibly an insult to anger someone else’s belief system or faith. To even insult their intelligence, wisdom or ethnic background. Stupid is simply something some one thinks negatively about another to feel superior in their own stupidness.
