My weimaraner is in her first heat. It is approximately the second week. Her teets are somewhat swollen. I know it is normal for them to become a little more pink and visable but is it also normal for them to swell? Please help! I have searched the internet and have come up with nothing. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

yes sometimes they do. I have seen some females even secrete fluid. Being her first heat they will probally stay a little larger than they were. They kinda develop in the first heat.

I would say yes, but keep an eye on her for a while. I've only ever had male dogs, so I'm not 100% sure, but if it's not causing her any pain, wait and see if they return to normal. If she goes out of heat and still has swollen teets, I'd get a vet to make sure it's not mastitis or something. I'd also look for other signs of illness, tiredness, going off food, etc. You can usually just call vets and ask them these sorts of things.

Hey,
Yes it is normal, this means that her body is getting ready to accomodate puppies if she falls pregnant. Her internal structure will change just slightly also to accomodate for the possibility of puppies. When she comes off heat then things well gradually get back to normal and she'll be the same dog as she was before her heat. If she seems a bit moody this is also normal. So there is nothing to worry about, your dog is just going through the normal phases of the dog version of a period.

This is normal. If they get very swollen, she could be having what is called a false pregnancy, where the body thinks it is going to have puppies. If you are worried, have your vet check her over! :)
