For those of you that say people are born into religion, if my mom and her entire side of the family are all Athiests and my dad, and his side are all Christian, does that make me HALF-Christian, HALF-Athiest?

Obviously, you were not born with a sense of humor.

The idea of choosing your own religion is a concept that we take for granted in America. So many people in other parts of the world who are drawn to Christianity, pay a very high price for their choice. If you are born into an Islamic (or Hindu, or atheistic communist) family, the price is often death. When my husband accepted as true that Jesus was crucified, died and resurrected, he knew that he would probably never see his parents in Iran again. He said he heard of one young Christian convert who went back to visit family, and was killed before he could make it out of the Tehran airport. Right now while we're talking, there are people in Pakistan, China, Indonesia, India, Iran (and other countries) who are in jail just because they chose to be a christain. I suspect that we don't appreciate how fortunate we really are.
Hoping the best for you...

Is it that you are incapable of understanding the meaning of the statement, or that you think this question is intelligent?
Here is a question for you;
Why is it that when an individual is born into a society that is majority christian, they themselves (if they choose religion) will almost certainly become christian?
It is because of cultural and societal reinforcement. If a child is never taught Islam, Hinduism, etc. they will not gravitate towards it, because those they trust and love do not believe or practice it.
Use some common sense.

"Born into religion" is merely a term used for those who have followed all they were taught from birth.
There are those who never "seek out" the Truth.
To do this can be a hard journey, one with many heartbreaks and you must be willing to possibly give up all you've been taught, and even face family and friend rejection...
Many have made spiritual "comfort" their god...

I have NEVER heard that you are born into religion. Christianity is a one-on-one personal relationship with Jesus. It is your choice.

The only thing that can make you a Christian, is your personal walk with Christ. On the other hand, the only thing that can make you an atheist, is not believing in God.

You can't be born into a religion. Whatever is in your heart determines what religion you are.

Atheism is a religion so you would still be religious... you just decide which one you want to follow and have faith in...

It's all about you. What you believe in. God has no grandkids. You are either in or out.
Of course, I expect that you know that already.
