I know of a man who is a devout minister who refuses to share Christmas dinner with his sister since she has been divorced. Is this what Jesus intended?

He is totally wrong. Where is the love for all that have life? Jesus told Peter in Matt. , to forgive not just a few times but, 70 times 7 times. Which is more than most of us can say. No one is perfect and everyone has things that aggravate them. But, that gives no one the right to exclude someone because of ANY background or history in their lives. Check out the Bible, follow your Heart and Give your Heart to Jesus!! Always look for the good, but know there is bad.

No this isn't what Jesus intended. How is this a good witness to his sister? This is ridiculous. He lives in the real world, does he only spend time with people who do what he thinks is right? He must have a pretty small circle of friends, if any.
Jesus teaches us to love the sinner hate the sin. All of us have done things that are difficult, doesn't he, or has he already arrived to perfection? Bummer.

christianity is a very strict very devotive religion, so are many like cathlics and jews, etc. but unlike catholics they have differnt levels of christianity, some more strict than others. to be a christian u follow the rules as they are no slips or negative actions. It has nothin to do with being hypocritical or jugemental..it has to do with devotion. being in any of the sacraments or following the ten commandments is difficult true, but some people take it seriously and wanna commit. knowing that someone broke the "rules" can be a 'shock' and can be embarrassing for some.it is true that ur supposed to forgive...but that ain't easy either, especially if ur related to a minister.

That minister is wrong he needs to look to the Bible and swallow his pride and take a true look in to his own hart.I think his problem with his sister is a personal one and not a spiritual one.Just because someone claims to be a Christian and is a Minister that doesn't mean that that person can make his own rules when it comes to God and forgiveness.

Absolutely not! That minister needs to get some counseling himself, I think. How dare he call himself a minister and sit in judgement of his own sister? The Bible tells us the only reason for a divorce as far as God is concerned is Adultry. I don't know what the sister's story is or who got the divorce, she or her husband. She does need prayed for and she needs some praying done by herself. I know preachers who have divorced and remarried. God is a strict God, but he is not blind to justice.

Mussjj,

To be a christian, in its real sense, is to be christ-like in thought, words and deed. Claiming and doing are worlds apart. To preach and not doing what you preach is sheer hypocrisy!

It has been written, that when a woman, who, judged to be adulterous was to be stoned to death, Jesus told the men who were to stone her:" Let the one who has no sin cast the first stone". Nobody was able to throw even a pebble.

Judged ye not that ye shalt not be judged.

Sounds like your minister needs a minister

Just say to him "Whoever is without sin cast the first stone". If that doesn't get him, remind him that Jesus said that if you have hatred in your heart towards another person, then you have already committed murder in your heart. Then remind him of the commandment "Thou shalt not murder" Sit back and watch the Holy Spirit convict him in his heart.

christians are the most judgmental, hypocritical people on this planet. they have no idea of what jesus intended, and they don't care to find out. all they remember is "by his stripes you were healed", and "jesus died that you might have eternal life" been there, done that, looking for something real.

If that is true, the man is very legalistic. That makes him worse than her divorce. People DO have the right to divorce in certain situations.
