I bought my new kitten a new bed to sleep in. But she wants to sleep in the same bed as me and my husband. My husband won't have a cat in our bed. What do I do to make her to sleep in her own bed? And if we shut the door she will meow and meow until we open the door and she gets on our bed? Any suggestions>>>:)

You have to think of her as a baby. She still needs mommy time. I know she is just a kitten but it's true. My suggestion is to put one of your old shirts in her bed, or get a nice fluffy, comfy stuffed toy and sleep with it for a few nights then put it in her bed. She may feel more comfortable with her bed if it has your scent in it.

Kittens frequently don't sleep in purchased beds. Cats are also "pack" animals to some degree, and you're her new mommy. She's in a new place and she wants to feel safe and secure, and you're it. Hubby needs to warm up to the idea.
If he absolutely refuses (altho there's nothing more relaxing than a purring cat when you're trying to sleep - truly) then just put her on the floor in your room. Don't shut her out. Or, do you have children she could sleep with? She's also bonding with you, and sleeping with you is a way of doing that. You don't want to refuse her that.
FYI -- I've NEVER had a cat that would sleep in a "cat bed". If she doesn't take to it on her own, she never will. You can't make her. They want to be as near their people as they can get, especially when sleeping. And that's a lovely thing!
She's a member of the family and, as a kitten, is literally the new 'baby" -- and that's the approach you should be taking.

Well, she is going to complain for a while as a kitten is feeling separation anxiety from its litter. My suggestion is to put that cat-bed into a kennel. Also, get a couple of stuffed animals for it to sleep with. After dinner, play with her until she is exhausted; let her do her business, get some water and or some food and then put her in her kennel. Yes, she will complain for a bit, again, as she needs to get use to sleeping alone. She will eventually get use to it. I know it is hard, but try to keep her adorable meows from pulling on your heart strings.

Added note: Though you may think your husband is a bit harsh when kitty is so little, it is best not to let your pets sleep with you. They will consider you a litter mate and not an alpha person or master. This means you won't have as much respect.

Good Luck.

Kick hubby to the couch, or even better, make him sleep on the floor in the kitty bed!! I'm serious. Cats may not be social animals, but they don't like to be treated like dogs. Tell your hubby to lighten up.
*Added* The best time to bond with your kitty is at night time, and its much nicer to have a kitten to cuddle with when your just laying in bed, or have a fight with hubby, or something. I used to squeeze a third pillow by mine so that my old cat would sleep on it, and not by my ex. And FYI letting a cat sleep with you doesn't mean it will screw up the alpha order and stuff, dont' you know, the cat is always at the top??

Cats sleep wherever they please. Your husband may have to adapt. Your kitty may eventually calm down and find a place to sleep on her own. You can try adding some cat nip around her bed to attract her, but this may not work. Some cats are not receptive to the herb, especially when young. Another product you can try is a rather expensive spray called Feliway. It contains a pheromone that makes cats feel calm and secure. I've had and heard mixed results from it. It may draw her to herbed, or keep her more content while locked out of your room. Good luck.

Try putting a heating pad - on the LOWEST setting under her bed, and a wind up clock (the kind that ticks) with it.
The heat is one reason they want to sleep with us - let's face it, would you want to sleep on a semi-soft cold bed on the floor? The muffled ticking of the clock mimics her mother's heartbeat.
If you have doubts about that - research how many millions of people buy those cute teddy bears that mimic the human mom's heartbeat.
Good luck - right now she's probably scared and lonely. Love her, give her lots of attention and play during the day, and when she's old enough, please have her spayed/neutered. We don't need any more unwanted kittens.

You can't.

The cat owns you.

The cat is the boss.

Didn't you know that before you got the cat?

Cats are NOT hermits!!

They love companionship.

You are a funny cat that walks on two feet

The cat will only stay for a while.

Hey, distract it

Buy a few house plants and keep them low

The cat will find them and try to sh*it in them!

SEriously, you have to think CAT!

Get a second cat for a companion (then both will want to sleep in your bed)

You'll enjoy the pitter patter of little feet at 6 am on a Sunday!

As they run across your feet!

You need to show her YOU are the master's of the domain. put catnip in her bed and keep your door shut. yes she may meow, for a few days but when she learns you will not give in she will start sleeping in her own bed.

haha I'm wondering how long it will be til the hubby gives in and becomes the big sucky, thats the way it usually works. It takes time and consistency, and patience on your part and your husbands. It won't happen overnight and you shouldn't expect it too. It's like a child going off in their own room for the first time. Try putting on the radio or tv on for kitty and try putting catnip in their bed. Good Luck

Get rid of your husband? Ok joke. Water in a spray bottle always worked with out cats. as soon as they jump on the bed or are getting ready to give a quick shot of water.
