i believe that rat snakes are NOT harmful snakes. They are not a venemous species. They often control the vermine population (hence the name "rat snake"). Google "rat snake" for more specific information.

No, they are not poisonious.
They may be aggressive, especially "wild" ones.
The common saying....."they are more afraid of you than you are of it" applies.
