He/she may have a urinary tract infection. I would take your cat to the vet and have the urine checked. If that is what it is then your vet can prescribe antibiotics to help.
If this is not the problem then it could be behavioral.Any change in litter, food, new carpet, new people living there, new pets etc.could cause anxiety.

I can't really answer why, but I had a cat that did the exact same thing. If I was going to the bathroom, she would come in and go in the sink, just pee though. Could be because she sees that room as an acceptable place to go since you are, or she sees you marking your territory there, so shes claiming the sink, I don't know, but I still think its cute!

a million) if it somewhat is a male, then he's marking his territory and additionally amle cats in specific situations do this whilst there are different cats or different pets around your place to mark their territory.perhaps he's in mating season>?in specific situations some cats do this. 2) attempt using trouble-free sand.it;s greater much less high priced and larger.I actual have used sand on all my cats. shop the clutter field the place he pees/poops greater often than not. 3)each and every time he poops someplace, place that poop to the clutter field each and every time and carry him there so he can sniff it and at last he would be conscious of that it is the placement to poop and pee. dont clean the clutter field each and every time ( clean it on the tip of the day till he learns that it somewhat is his bathroom"). 4) shop the clutter field in a bathing room which you dont use usually or in a room it somewhat is empty and every time he pees or poops someplace, then shop him interior that clutter field room for an afternoon as punishment and he will eventaully study.

Is this new behavior and how old is the cat.

If this is new behavior, odds are he is trying to tell you he's having a problem. Cats associate pain/discomfort with elimination with their litter box, and will go elsewhere to try to avoid the pain. And he's trying to go in an appropriate place, bless him (or her).

If the cat is older, and this is new behavior, you NEED to take him to see a vet. Make notes of any changes in behavior, appetite, etc. to tell the vet. It could be kidney or bladder issues that can be easily fixed, or something more serious. Please don't wait!!! Good luck.

might just be a quirk. it's not one of those cute adorable quirks, though. And certainly it wont be any cuter when you go to wash your hands or brush your teeth there. Maybe he likes going in the bathroom. Do you have a big house? Maybe the litter box isn't where he wants it, or it's too far.

maybe you should try a different brand of kitty litter, or change the hand soap you use in the bathroom sink....better the sink then the middle of your bed

he may find a problem with a smell in the sink - if you clean a fish tank or any other animal smell (even you) he may want to mark it with his own sent. put his litterbox in the sink and slowly move it away (lots of days in between even weeks). make sure his food is not to close to his litterbox

I'm wondering why you didn't flush your cat down the toilet after you caught it peeing in the sink the first time.

Some problems are easier solved than discussed.

It is possible your cat thinks it is a "toilet". I once had a cat that did use the toilet. No kidding!
