I am a claims adjuster, and I see this constantly. usually the car is a 199? POS Beater ed, but it has 20" chrome alloy wheels and stereo system that belongs at the IMAX theator.

so either it is not covered or I total the vehicle for the Actual cash value ( yeah car minus the stereo)

I like what one commedian had said once about it.... So weird when you see the rust actually falling off the car with each hit.... Baically gonna have to keep buying newer cars as the bass basically shaker rattles the older car to death:-)

People do that because people are stupid. They are more concerned about the stereo and amenities than actually the steel that surrounds it. This would also probably account for the color of a lot of these cars you are investigating. But stereo's, unlike cars, can be accumulated, and can continually be upgraded, spreading out the cost so the total bill creeps up on you.

A great sounding and loud stereo is more important than what my ride looks like..theres nuthin foolish about that.Im not trying to impress the chics or anyone...even though it does work.( chix dig bumbs in the trunk ) . I like listening to loud and great quality music more than i care what my ride looks like,,also I plan on owning my stereo equitment longer than I will own my car so it will travel with me from car to car. It does also feel great to pizz off old crabby people at stoplights.now that should be a question,,why are like 75% of old people always crabby,,all that does is make me wanna pizz em off even more.lol im serous too.
peace-

Because they are able to buy the stereo in pieces saving up for individual components, but do not have the patience to save up to buy a better car. Also it is a form of self-expresion.

It's easier to get away with driving around with stolen stereo equipment than it is to drive around in a stolen car.

To impress girls. Period.
I overheard this bit of conversation that summed it up perfectly: "Ya gotta make the b*tch think ya GOT sumthin..."

That is what people think of as priorities.
The stereo payments are paid, is the car payments current?
I understand your question totally...........................
