As a former wrestler I'm all too familiar with the worm. It's a fungus along the same lines as athletes foot or jock itch. Basically it's one of those things that can always be there and never manifest unless your skin's pH changes or something like that. It thrives in a basic environment so when you sweat it makes itself at home. If you happen to have it, athlete's foot creme is a good method but slow, the doctors have a good prescription for it, I also hear soaking it in vinegar works, bleach works but it kills all the skin around it as well.

What causes ringworm?

Although the world is full of yeasts, molds, and fungi, only a few cause skin problems. These agents are called the dermatophytes, which means "skin fungi." Skin fungi can only live on the dead layer of keratin protein on top of the skin. They rarely invade deeper into the body and cannot live on mucous membranes, such as those in the mouth or vagina.

a lot of mammals carry Ringworm and it can be tough to get rid of in animals even after many treatments. it's not terribly difficult to get rid of in humans though, if you catch it from an animal. There are topical anti-fungal treatments and I think there's even an oral antibiotic if the topical antifungal doesn't work.

You can get rid of it faster with dark finger nail polish. The darker the better. It smothers it out.
