Speaking for myself, I don't think I can solve anyone's problems. I can share knowledge on subjects that other people might not know much about and I can give opinions on situations, but I'm under no delusions that I "solve" anyone's problems. It's all about sharing.

We can't but maybe asking thousands of strangers is less embarrassing than asking your best friend. Also there is anonymity. Further there is the unfortunate fact that friends sometimes say what they know you want to hear. Strangers are more likely to be forthright in their opinion.
Always nice to sound our different opinions - don't you think?
Also some people have just bought into this points thing - I am quite surprised - but maybe it is only here that people will listen to them. What do you think? Why are you here?
As for me - I find it less embarrassing to try to find out an annoying bit of trivia that i can't find on the net by asking here than annoying my friends who couldn't care less about the name of the actor who blah blah blah. The answerers on this site are a collection of trivia-nuts. I asked about the name of a certain film once - not only did I get a quick answer - but one also sent me a pdf copy of the short story it was based on.

i don't think we can solve each other's problems but sometimes we can help each other with sharing experiences, looking at things a different way or just offering a little support. it is the responsibility of the individual to resolve their own challenges but some people don't like to feel isolate while do this and some prefer it. you are probably taking life a little too seriously and worrying about others doesn't really help anyone.

We are just trying to help. And its also nice to see people with worse issues than your own. And everyone likes to think that they have the answers. Of course, I actually do:)
