i have a two year old boston terrier named lucy and ive always know that she's had hot spots or assumed she did. ive taken her to the vet and had allergy test done on her only to find out shes allergic to corn and wheat. so i switched her food to more expensive premium dog food...shes been on it for a good 8 months now. But recently shes been rolling around or obsessivly nipping and scratching her bottom and above her tail. To the point where shes wimpering and even bleeding. I spray her with some hotspot spray but now i just cant see her suffer the way she is. the vet just gave me the spray and she has frontline on. does someone have any advice on how to relieve her or help her with the problem?

I believe that she can't stand the itchiness at those area which she wants to scratch it. Her whimpering is a signal that your hotspot spray doesn't really work on her, I believe that she may need to have a frequent bathes and also bring her for vet's advice immediatly and tell your vet, those little details.

It sounds like her feces is making her itch or burning her. If she is raw and bleeding from scratching spraying her with anything will just irritate it. I recommend a different vet.

Maybe you should change her shampoo or the frontline stuff.

your dog will probably stop wimpering after you stop kicking it.
