go to the Empire State Building, Manhattan's best views from atop New York City's tallest structure, go at the afternoon and stay in there for an hour, after that go to dinner to a place nearby.

If she is an active 85 year old, then take a stroll in Central Park. It might be nice just to go and sit on one of the benches and people watch.

One hour or less? I thought it was supposed to be an afternoon? Don't gip your poor Granny out of some quality time. A nice lunch for Brunch for starters and take her shopping. Buy her some fresh flowers. Slow down and enjoy her!! Ask her if there is anywhere she needs to go and take her their and for goodness sake don't wear a watch and keep looking at it.

You can have tea and crumpets at the Waldorf-Astoria. It's lovely there.
Or you can take her to the Boathouse in Central Park for an afternoon snack, while you can chat and watch the many rowboats go by...gondolas too.

Go to battey park there you can pick up a boat that will take you on a tour of manhatten it is only about 15 per person

attempt some thing she'd like no longer some thing you pick to inherit. like some new gowns or blankets, slippers, a huge distant, a clock that tells the tempture besides, some thing that makes her existence easlier
