I wonder if love and enlightenment are the same....what do you have to do to get them...? I feel so close to being in the " I AM " state of consciousness...but it seems so fleeting... Any learned Ones or Ancients that can help me ?

I am neither learned or ancient (unless 28 is ancient these days) but love and enlightenment are priceless. I don't mean in the Mastercard kind of way either.

Fleeting is the last thing such a state of consciousness is. You are playing with shadows, but that is a necessary step in the process, and thus clearly on a path.
I would love to help you. I must tell you that I have no following, no group, no book. I experienced God directly when I was seventeen. I am now 45, joyfully married, with a baby daughter who is learning what I learned (from before birth for her).

If you wish to know more, I'd be happy to help to the extent you wish.

They are not the same. Love is the combination of the state of elation combined with the dropping of those "walls" of identity that seperate you from other aspects of reality (people, things, ideas). When those walls drop, you feel love. Enlightenment is the dropping of all those walls in sudden realization of the nature of reality. They don't stay down, and it is possible to rebuild them, but it isn't easy thereafter to do so.

Want more? ;) Shall we get to practical methods?

Love ... emotions and feelings we experience during and after our interactions with people, places and things in our life. As human beings we most often relate 'love' as an emotion shared towards another human being. In reality however, we share those same emotions towards a host of other things and objects around us which, being the complex forms we are, we tend to ignore as nondescript and/or abstract. Nothing could be further from the truth though in my opinion. It's as easy to love the smell of fresh flowers as much on any given day as as you may love the person you slept with the night before. Today the flowers may be in full bloom while last night the evening ended in complete disagreement and therefore the flowers are simply easier to love today. In the moment.

Enlightenment ... I believe starts when we begin to understand that 'love' itself is not the answer to so many of the questions we have about life. But rather opening our hearts and minds to the extensions of love beyond mere physical aspects and the mythological belief that love is only good. Love is only a word used to describe either our affections or enthusiam towards a person, place or thing and can be both good and bad based on it's intended definition.

In truth, love is change and when we learn to allow ourselves to change through the various ups and downs of life then we find less resistance in our paths and move closer to the ultimate goal in life ... 'safe haven'. Without the acceptance of change we can never be enlightened and without the enlightenment we have no refuge of 'save haven' to look forward too.

Love is free ... but costly. To truly love you must avoid compromise. The day will come when you have a chance to stand up for a friend and show love, or back down and say nothing or, worse, chime in the chorus of character assassination. The price for love at that time will seem pretty high. True love and enlightenment comes from mundane routine and everyday expressions of doing the right thing to your neighbor. Love your neighbor even when no one is looking. It doesn't take money to do that.

How do you "get" what you always have had, always been? You are created of love and enlightenment. The only "price" is in giving up this thinking that you are something called "human" as well as spirit.

It seems fleeting because you still cling to ego. Ego wants you to forget your true nature, which is perfect love. Nothing has changed...you remain as created.

I am somewhat of an ancient. The price of love and enlightenment is to love and enlighten others.

Not so much a price really, but , instead , priceless clarity instead of confusion, and the love of God in the place of desire. The farther you reach for enlightenment, the more you realize it is going to just come to you.

We only attain what we seek when we cease pursuit.

Call me wise, call me well-read, or call me an egotist, but that is what I live by, and it has always served me well. Also, I believe it is close to something one of the Buddha's said.

My only (carnate) memory of love has been bitter, so I'm not quite qualified to give unbiased advice on that one.
