When a person becomes a Christian, he is still a sinner. The devil can still make him fall into temptation and do some pretty rotten things. Look up the story of David and Bathsheba in the Bible. Yet David, through God's tool the Prophet Nathan, repented of his sin. Read Psalm 51 to read David's repentance to God. No matter how awful a person has been, God can still bring him to repentance and forgive him. Our lives have to be lives of daily repentance anyway because we sin a lot everyday. We can't even remember all our sins because they are so many. God is ready to forgive each and every one of us.

It is very possible to believe in God and still commit murder. Murder is committed by Christians, by atheists and by people of all faiths.

Murder happens usually when people's passions get out of control--and this can be related to alcohol and drug use as well as from people being under huge amounts of stress.

It is said that when police are looking for suspects, the first place they look is at spouses, partners, and family members, because here is where passions run deepest and domestic situations are likely to get out of hand.

Of course, there are other types of premeditated murder. Some of this is related to sociopathy which arises in people who generally were very traumatized and abused as children in very sadistic and usually sexual ways.

Many of the reasons for murder lie very deep and transcend the lines of religious beliefs.

Also, it is important to note that it is not only the Christian bible that forbids murder; as there were codified laws against murder already in existence in the ancient near east before the ten commandments were written.

Religion has many inconsistencies:

For example, "Thou shall not kill" is a commandment
Yet it's somehow justified in the case of war?

"Thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor" (lying)
Yet every single day, we tell lies without thinking twice about most of them.

"Thou shall not covet"
Again we do this every day. All of us. We're jealous of everything we see.

Yet one of the biggest issues that Christians squabble about every day is that homosexuality is a grave, serious, perverted sin worthy of hellfire and damnation.

Why then, if it's so serious, it isn't it in the 10 commandments if it's so gosh darned important? It's only mentioned in passing. If you blink you might miss it.

My point... religion is full of inconsistencies that try to be justified all the time.

I don't understand either why Christians can justify certain things, depending on the circumstance, but not others.

(One of the big reasons I'm agnostic and no longer a Christian)

P.S. (to address a comment listed below mine) If all sin "weighs the same", why, I'll just go out and kill my neighbor just because he's pissing me off. It's the same as lying, you know. Because all sin weighs the same.

We all fall short of the glory of God, we all make mistakes. Too many reason why but in short sometime the moment will get the best of each of us and then sometimes we just act on purpose.

Killing the guilty for crimes is not the same as murder and murder is not just the taking of innocent life. Jesus said that if you hate your brother then you are guilty of murder. Well I am guilty because I have before in my life hated. I had to over come but still guilty of the crime.

The taking of life as a punishment for a crime, well what did Jesus do? He submitted to man's law all the way to the Cross. The Death Penalty, for my crimes against God.

There have been and are times when the taking of a life is not a sin. In the protection of yourself or someone else. It is understandable that when you have to act or react that your must take a life. Safety is a reason.

Allah on the other hand does want you to take the life of a non-believer, if they are not willing to convert then they are to be put to death.

That is the main reason I could never follow Allah. I believe in a Loving Caring God and that is what I follow. I don't claim religion, because religion is nothing more than acting out for show. Faith on the other hand is the evidence of things unseen. I try my best to live by faith. Faith in Jesus, to model my life after his teaching. That is my goal. I don't push my beliefs on any one but I do say judge me and see if I am true to my beliefs. Action speak louder than words. Truth is I fall short but I don't stop trying.

If you think that I am crazy for believing that's fine, it is my choice and it is what I believe.

Well according to a saying of the Prophet peace be upon him, a person is not a believer at the time of committing a sin, because sins are not found in a believer.

So I would have to say, that people who commit murder dont believe in God, or else they would realize that they will be punished for their actions, and that fear would be enough to make them stop.

In the case of terrorist attacks, then those people are disillusioned; they don't think that they are committing murder.

Its all because of sin. Also because they think that there God needs them to kill for them. Actually they have there own ideas where their religion should go and then they change it to fit their life style. This applies to many faiths, even Christianity. Christianity doesn't allow for killing never has never will.

I'm guessing they couldn't think of much better excuse at the moment. You know he was corrupt by a demon or whatever. It's to easy to say that, because most people would probably even BELIEVE IT!
