There aren't a whole lot of options without knowing someone personally to have a good 'chat' with (depending on what you are looking to talk about), because if you are looking to talk about Iraq/Afghanistan and what is happening over there, what will happen, what has happend, etc. most military issues are covered under "opsec" (operational security - a highly punishable offense) and most HONEST opinions are kept in small circles due to not being able to defame the commander in cheif, etc.
Most (smart) soldiers are keeping to the OPSEC to protect themselves and the troops because so many 'civilians' who wanted to 'chat' have ended up being informants, etc. and have sent over infomation and/or used that information against our troops, and lives are being lost because of it.

The best way is to meet someone who is in the military. Hook up with them and meet their friends. I was in the Marines and stay in touch with a lot of my friends still in the service. So hit me up if you want me to hook you up with one of them,,,,
