A Mickey Finn is a drug (usually chloral hydrate) that is surreptitiously dropped in a drink, rendering the drinker unconscious. It gets its name from a bar owner in Chicago who allegedly drugged and robbed his patrons. Chloral hydrate is a sedative/hypnotic that is prescribed today for insomnia, as a sedative, and as an adjunct medication before surgery.
If you drop one of these into somebody's drink, then get ready to go to prison for a long time. Alcohol and chloral hydrate in combination can depress the respiratory system to the point where breathing stops and death ensues.

Where I come from a micky is a small bottle of liquor (like the little freebies that sometimes come on the big bottles) and if you put it in someone's drink, they would taste alcohol. I'm not even sure if it's enough to get a buzz from even if it were you're first time...

Slipping a Mickey
Among the dangers of frequenting bars and parties where alcohol is served is the risk of being slipped a Mickey. A Mickey, or Mickey Finn, is generally taken to mean any knockout drug that is secretively placed, or slipped, into someones alcoholic beverage. This is a bit ironic considering that many people consider alcohol to be something of a knockout drug in itself.
The most important part of this term seems to be the slipping. If you want to just gobble Mickeys all night long, people will generally leave you alone. When you start wanting to slip someone a Mickey, however, you've got trouble.

i,always thought a micky was the smallest bottle of any alcohol you could get, and to put it in a drink like say vodka coke, rum & coke,
gin & tonic, & well the more you have the drunker you get. But fom the answers I see I could be very wrong on this one, dumb me.

I think most mickys are something very strong and alcoholic, and when you put it in someone's drink, it gets them drunk very fast.

A mickey is a slang term for date rape drug. It is a sedative and either completely knocks out or mildly sedates the victim so that they are complicit and not in control of themselves.
